It looks very nice, but the odd thing about the "pristine" restoration is that the car never looked like that when new. It was originally light blue, without any stripes, rondel, or even a Shell logo on the nose, but it had a SHELL parachute on the back.
I just posted a quick history of 1036 and its sister cars in Ron's thread about yellow cars. |

Rep Power: 4 | Re: Concours d\'elegance in Cincinnati Actually 1036's ORIGINAL color, as delivered, was primer...Hardly an appealing choice.
1036's owner's name is Jim Jaeger and the story of why 1036 is painted the way it is is on the RacingIcons site: http://www.racingicons.com/gt/1036.htm
(See the caption on Figure 4) |

By adding the Shell logos and a parachute (it was on the car when it was on display at the Road American GT40 reunion) they're identifying the car as one of the Shell cars. But the restored car doesn't look like any of the original Shell cars. |

...and when you buy the car from him you'll be able to paint it to honor any part of the car's history you deem appropriate.
...and then people can take potshots at your choice.
