I did'nt get any real close-ups of the engine, but I do remember thinking that the motor had been made/presented to 'look' old or period, but the electronic fuel injection made me think it was a recent engine. I'm not familiar with the Jaguar motor range.
Re the 'historic' status, isn't this probably just based on the age of the registration? - without seing a V5 I guess we do not know how it's been listed. There was an info sheet there and I'm suprised that I did'nt photograph it as I would normally have...
so to both queries, sorry - I don't know.
BUT i'll put money on another forum member knowing the answer(s)... there isn't much that the 'forum collective' cannot explain...
addendum - Actually I know of at least 2 cars that have 'historic' Road Fund Free status based purely on their registration documents being for a period vehicle of the same manufacturer / door configuration....

Not quite as easy these days I suspect...
