GT40 Lithophane

Something a bit diferent.

Recently been playing with this technique, where a translucent material is machined to create light and dark, dictated by the thickness of material.

From an image that fellow Canberran John Lind previously posted of his RF on this site, I machined up this image.

Many thanks to John.

The images are of the unlit and backlit litho. Size is about 430 x 220mm.

Clive.

Mike,

Lighting these things seems to have been an ongoing challenge. The forums are full of various techniques, the majority unsuccessful.

Without trying to be a smartarse, I have played with your idea and come up with a very workable solution.

LED's around the perimeter, with a couple of tricks thrown in, have resulted in a very commercial result. Sorry for being cagey, but I suspect many have tried but few succeeded.
