Starting to get the bonnet/vents/nose area close to what I want. The bottom front vents I have changed a bit too but not quite there yet.

Re: "Vigilante 6.0 Vengeance" project

So pushed the fat lady out of the garage to have a look at it. It is getting there but even at this stage, especially when I think of the doors and recesses, I get my doubts sometimes! When I looked at it outside though it's all worthwhile.

We worked on the nose again, the bottom front vents STILL needs work. Where the bonnet and the winscreen meets also needs to be finished. Side vents needs alot of work on the insides etc. etc. etc. etc.

Re: "Vigilante 6.0 Vengeance" project

Thanx Ian.

Honestly, I have underestimated the amount of time it takes! People ask me "when is the due date" for pulling the mold and the body..... My answer is; "December 2011" ....

Re: "Vigilante 6.0 Vengeance" project

Looks like you are making good progress. What is the projected ground clearance and overall height?

Re: "Vigilante 6.0 Vengeance" project

Hi Doug,

Ground clearance is 150mm and overall roof height +/- 1120mm, the frame on wheels is about 190mmm high, so looking at the pic visualize it as 190mm lower.

What do you think of 150mm ground clearance? Too much?

Cheers

Re: "Vigilante 6.0 Vengeance" project

150mm = 5.875 " may be a bit high but is probably good for road use especially if they are a bit "rough". 4.5" = 115mm is a bit more "exotic" but may be a hassle. For the track you could probably drop down to 4" = 100mm. I think most the GT40 guys around here are at 4.5 -5.5" and keep an eye out for speed bumps!

Re: "Vigilante 6.0 Vengeance" project

Since you are doing a custom chassis you can tuck up the tender pieces and still keep the door sills low for the stance you want.

Re: "Vigilante 6.0 Vengeance" project

yes. I might drop it to 120 mm, then my roof to ground will be 1100 which I think will be more in line. As far as speed bumps..... I was thinking of pneumatic lifter in the front, which should help.

Re: "Vigilante 6.0 Vengeance" project

I seem to have a problem. The Audi RS4 engine has direct injection and so far I cannot get aECU that will work with it. Furthermore someone told me that I will not be able to set the car up with the existing ECU because of the many sensors involved. Apparently I would even need the RS4 complete dash and also awd etc. etc. etc.

I've been told that I should buy external injectors, modified manifold, have custom fuel rails built and use a aftermarket ECU. The whole story costing a small fortune.

Does anyone have alternative ideas or know of an aftermarket ECU that will work with direct injection engines?

Re: "Vigilante 6.0 Vengeance" project

Spoke to a guy who says he is 90% sure they could decode the standard ECU. Should know for sure by tomorrow or so. Also found a Dutch company call Kronenburg who sells a complete package, fuel rails, throttle bodies, ecu, etc etc AND gain 80 bhp...... still waiting for a quote from them but I believe it will be to rich for my blood.

Re: "Vigilante 6.0 Vengeance" project

I would be tempted to wait.

Everyone is going to GDI, it's not going to be long before the aftermarket have caught up.

If all else fails you can ignore the GDI and run conventional injectors etc. Ok so you'd probably have to make up a custom manifold (or drill/weld in injector fittings) but still likely to be far cheaper than a GDI type ECU would be now.

Re: "Vigilante 6.0 Vengeance" project

So do we! Doesn't stop other people calling it Gasoline!

Depends how long we're talking before you get to *needing* the engine to be running but I honestly think that we're at the stage where give it a few years and it'll be *far* more common for aftermarket ECU's to support it. They can't not!
