Troy's Ralt RT23

I thought I might post a few pics of my Ralt RT23 on here. This car was bought to Australia for running in the Formula Holden category in the 1990's, running at all major tracks in Oz (including the Australian GP). It was previously run in European F3000, driven by Heinz Harold-Frentzen.

The car currently runs the same 3.8ltr V6 from that category, and the Original Hewland FT200 with Ralt's own gear-case. I'm looking at running some hill climbs and open speed events with it, with the priority being to just clocking up some track time and dial in the correct set-up once the fresh set of boots arrive!

good on you mate , great looking thing .these should have been our premier open wheelers ,if it was handled right .looks like a load of fun ! cheers mark

Glad you made it back to the best side of the country Troy.
I am a Ralt boy as well now and am restoring an old 1985 RT5.
Lets catch up.

Troy where are you buying your Tyres from?
I need to get a new set of slicks for West.
Im home if you Guys want to catch up.

I spoke to Kostera's in Kalamunda, as they are the Dunlop racing tyre people in WA. Otherwise Stuckey's in Melbourne for more Dunlops. Stuckey's have them in stock, and sound pretty clued-up, and pretty well priced.

If you want Avons, Gordon Leven Motorsport tyres in Sydney are the guys. Having said that, they don't stock my size in Oz, and gave me an 8 week lead time. I'd put money on the fact I could get them from the UK myself, cheaper.

Haven't found the Yokahama racing dealer yet, though I'll probably go for the dunlops, as they were the spec tyre for Formula Holden when they ran here (and are here in Australia all the time)

Catch up is a great idea. Name the time and place :)

I haven't checked the US. Kostera's seemed quite high, can't remember exactly. From memory, Stuckeys quoted me around $480 per corner for mine, plus $25 freight each tyre to WA. The Avons from Sydney were quoted to me at over $650 each.

The car has been accepted to run by invitation in Formula Classic, so am starting to prepare it for that. Wrapped the headers with the Titanium FG wrap.

Had not seen the Ralt version of the F Holden car. Looks great. I was looking at a Reynard version a bit back. Is Formula Classic a series?

Het Mesa, for sure. Formula Classic is a series with sub categories for different age brackets. Typically, 1986 is as new as they like, or marginally later as long as it is an alloy chassis car. As mine is carbon chassis (but steel wishbones) I can run it by invitation. There are 5 or 6 of us going to run this way here this season.

Hi Ryan, hadn't planned it, but would be keen for sure. Feel like pointing me to some contact info on that? Cheers.

Troy, not sure how full the fields are, you might be lucky and be able to get a spot.
March 5th to 8th 2015.

Victorian Historic Racing Register

I haven't made it down for a few years now. Last time i was there Rob Sherrard had his Sauber C9 running - aka the car that caused the chicanes to be put in on the Mulsane.

Still on the Gold Coast Mark, but travelling between the two regularly. Would be great to catch up, it's been ages! I'll let you know when I'm back in WA again.
