British Low Flying Jets

From a pure spectator standpoint, there is nothing to beat a fast low flying jet. I am quite sure that the same is true for the pilots themselves. Partly because of their traditional Cold War background, British bombers tend to specialise in low flying techniques which leave them vulnerable not only to ground proximity but aslo shoulder fired missiles and even small arms fire.

Their training is something to behold, Here are my two favourite shots shots of a Panavia Tornado and a Hawk trainer in the Welsh valleys. Bear in mind these photos were taken by a walker from a regular footpath, but not, I think, with a 'regular' camera!

Amazing. I could spend all day watching these (if I could only get there).

Awesome Marcus! What a mixed bag.. F15, Hawk, Tornado, Hercules, Typhoon and of course, the ubiquitous Harrier. Was there an F16? Not sure.

Was there not also a film of a Spitfire flying under a hump back bridge?
Bridge was about 2 foot wider than wingspan and prop less than 1 foot above water

There is a bridge just off the M3 at Twyford accessed by a road called "Spitfire Link". I guess it was a right of passage for early Spitfire Test Pilots and later Fighter Pilots to 'buzz the bridge' and the name has stuck these past 75-80 years.

Just imagine that today with a Typhoon! :stunned:

From the ITV series, Piece of Cake.

It's Winston Bridge, North Yorkshire & widescreen formats make the bridge look wider than it actually is !
I had the pleasure of meeting Sarah Hanna awhile back & she pointed that fact out with the aid of a 'normal' photograph of the bridge.
The above clip is one of the better formats / ratios of the several copies on youtube.

RIP Mark & Ray sadly missed, fondly remembered.

This looks like a good place to catch some low flyers - RAF Waddington obviously during an air show, hence the SAAB Viggen & AWAC (Sentinel?). Anyway, apart from the usual suspects, Red Arrows et al - check out the Vulcan at the end..

Awesome

This is the one they were all waiting for though. You remember the guy standing on a ladder up against the hedge? Well this is what happened to him.....
