Does anyone have an opinion or facts on what these BRM wheels are worth?

 

IMHO opinion too expensive at $4,000+ with reserve not met. But - like anything - it's what anyone's willing to pay.

$4K for the rims does seem steep--until you compare it to the value of an original competition GT40, which seems to be at least $1 million these days if not more (see #1080). That would be equivalent to paying just $300 for four rims on a $75,000 car. Plus, I think the 14" rims would be very rare, as the 12-inch rears were the more commonly-used BRMs, even on the Gulf team cars.

I was quoted a price of about $800 per wheel for Jongbloed magnesium/aluminum BRM's several years ago. Don't know what the going price is today, but at those prices, 4K + for original wheels doesn't seem that out of line.

Thanks - also, Fran Hall made a good point about if you were to wreck one wheel - how would you ever replace it. I will try to find something else.
