I guess this could be a good deal for a GT40 builder if it's possible to overcome the 4wd output "problem"

Its simple. You just need to sell the 4WD box and buy a 2WD Audi like mine instead. A guy called Hilly who has done his Lotus Audi V8 conversion did it this way.
