UK Ricardo 6-speed

Allegedly, a Ricardo 6-speed out of a late-model Ford GT. Might be worth a look.

Mine? I don't think so. Be careful out there...

So what does it take to mount this up to a 302/351? Are the input splines the same, what is the input shaft length for clutch clearance etc.? What flywheel and starter combination?

I believe you would need adapters and a special flywheel. the trans will bolt up to a modular ford but the starter will be on the trans and will require the GT type clutch with the starter ring rear on the clutch housing, there will be one bolt not used , the one where the starter goes on the mod motor. on the
GT engine block the cut out for the starter is not there and there is a bolt for the trans in its place. it takes a $500 starter motor from Ford.

We have just bolted a Ricardo Trans from Fran directly to a drysumped all alloy Roush 427IR (351 based). No adapter was used, but additional bolts through larger dowel pins suffice with the other existing bolts that fit.

Uses Ford GT AP Clutch Pack which includes starter ring gear.

(ps - it's a tight squeeze in a GTD! :stunned:)

what flywheel did you use?

Was working on Bjorn's GTD refit this weekend and took a snap of trans/motor joined. This is with the twin-plate AP clutch / flywheel that Fran also supplied installed.

Lots of wiring being sorted at the moment, then motor/trans going back in next weekend, then off to have new headers/exhaust system fabricated.

Also having to have some custom driveshafts made up. Will likely use GKN as Nadine has had great results from them on her Viper and Daytona Coupe. Unless someone can suggest anyone else they have heard good things about???
