GTD for sale @ sovereign cars.uk

That's amazing they reclaimed some "original GT40 grey leather" from somewhere...perhaps from an original road or race GT40?

And, wonderful how they perfectly replicated the original "three piece" wheels. Somehow I thought the original wheels were one piece magnesium halibrands but what do I know......

Cliff,
It's that use of the word 'Replica' again and how it means different things to different people. The car is a 'look-a-like' IMHO , but in no way is it a replica and here in the UK it could actually be an illegal advert if they are claiming it's a replica under what we here call The Trade Descriptions Act. It has a strong resemblance to a GT40 more than any other car but a replica? Not really. There are some really good replicas being built and chronicled here on this website but the builders are painstakingly being faithfull to the originals all of which are monos which, again IMHO, qualifies them as replicas.
Personally I don't think the person who penned the advert has ever seen the real deal and doesn't know the difference between a space frame and a mono. He also needs a spell checker.

Pretty odd that ! We have had to totally rebuild that car for the new owner who bought it from Soveriegn about a year ago, it was very shiny but in awefull mechanical condition. See the story by the new owner in the last Enthusiasts magazine " BUYERS BEWARE!" fRANK

I went a long way to see a GTD 40 at Sovereign after arranging it over the phone only to be told when I got there that they would only let me drive it if I bought it! The salesman was a complete a**h&1e and I vowed never to return. I make a point of warning people away from them now, how they are still in business I'll never know - not worth any effort.
