Re: "prototype" aluminium chassis, ebay UK

Hi Simon -

I've seen these pics before and several sets of panels were made. I helped Roy Smart assemble a set seen previously here:

Monocoque

Which - I might add now has a Melia MKII body on top and is probably available for sale should anyone be interested - contact me... (and before you ask, no - I don't know the price at the moment or what is included)

Will be interesting to see if it sells...

Further thoughts..... - The pictures depicted in the attached thread do not show the car as it is now... The rear frame is totally different and has been constructed to replicate the original rear frame in looks from the rear and is all powdercoated in RED - to match the body panels.... I can probably find some pics should anyone be interested..

I think there was one at GTD in Sutton Colfield whilst the marsh people 'owned' [sic] GTD.

Re: "prototype" aluminium chassis, ebay UK

Simon;

There was a chassis at the GTD factory unit at Sutton Coldfield, the second unit they occupied, about 6 months before they went down, I looked at buying it at the time from Spencer Marsh. It was stored on top of the works office.
The one on ebay looks like the item I saw then.

Red face Re: "prototype" aluminium chassis, ebay UK

It's an interesting project for somebody, but needs a LOT of time spent on it. For example there's nowhere to attach the rear suspension currently, I would think it's certainly NOT a case of just bolting on the back of a GTD!
You'd really be on your own with a project like this. He's absolutley right when he says it's going to take time and money to finish.
I would guess it'd be a brave man who'd take it on!
