GT40 to be honored at Spirit of Montjuïc in Barcelona 12/14 April

We are putting together the third edition of the Catalan Classic Revival at the Catalunya GP track.
One of the highlights of this year´s event will be the celebration of the anniversary of the Ford GT40, with a specific GT40 race inside one of our races and a display of several cars coming from all over Europe.

One of the cars that will be present at the event is a car with lots of emotional ties to the old Montjuïc Park track and the fans in Barcelona, chassis 1019.
This car won the 6 Hours of Barcelona in the old Montjuïc urban track. The car was rented for this occasion by the Escuderia Montjuich and was driven to victory by Brian Muir and Paco Godia.

Anybody interested in attending as a spectator, with a classic car or with a GT40, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Victors, that looks like a great event. Do you know what car that is in the 1st picture of post #2? The white car to the right of the plane next to the blue bus in the 1-2 o'clock position?

Hey Jimmy... You had very sharp eyes! Well spotted.
That is the car of a friend of mine.
It is a one off Spanish built, El Campeador.
It resembles a GT40, smaller and my friend found it in a barn and restored completely.
They presented the car in the late 60´s at the Barcelona motor show, and right before they started production a fire on the facilities ended with the dream burning everything from moulds to blueprints and assets to ashes.
That car was participating last year in the concourse d´elegance "Art in motion" (one of the multiple events that takes place in my show) together with several other vehicles, the Porsche 917 that Steve McQueen used for Le Mans movie and in which Derek Bell was second in Barcelona 6 hours in 1972 (could be 71, not sure now), a Porsche 908 Martini Racing, the Texan airplane...
I do not have more pictures of El Campeador, but I will ask my friend for some and I will post them.

Thanks Victors. I will look forward to seeing more photos of this car and hearing more about it. Very cool indeed!

Oriol, thanks for posting these great pics. I never get tired of looking at this car. No matter what color its in it looks stunning.

GT40´s at dusk.
Probably the best Historic Formula One grid in ages.
Spirit of Montjuïc was the first FIA Historic Formula One race of the season and the amount of cars, the quality of them and the racing were great.
The Renault Alpine A110 50th anniversary celebration reunited more than 70 Alpines.
One of the planes of the air show, a Texan T6. It was great to see it flying so low... and the sound of the engine was beautiful!
