Goodwood Festival of Speed

The GT40 Enthusiasts Club was there with a stand, no thanks to the organizers but that's another story.

Well done David Scaife for his sterling work to make it all happen , to David & Glen for their cars - fine examples of the 40 both, and to all members who chipped in their time and effort to make it happen.

Enclose a few photos including the stand, some aerial stuff, JB in an M8B and much more.

I'd like to add to Paul's words in also saying a big thank you to David Scaife for all his hard work, organisational skills and diplomatic genius in putting on yet another excellent club display.
Very well done.

+1 to Glenn's comments and thanks to David and all others who set up the stand (and taking down again tomorrow), and all those that gave up their time to man the stand over the 4 long hot days of the event. It was a shame that there was only 1 original car (1046) at the event however lets hope Lord March is keeping all the best for the Revival in a couple of months.

Did any of you see this?

I never knew it existed. Whatever was Ferrari thinking?

(By the way, "Clap Ferrari" is not a misprint - it is what it is)

Perhaps it looked better in the flesh - I certainly hope so anyway. I think I'll stick to the F12.. :)

Keith,

I believe it is the 1 off made by the factory for Slowhand for a reputed £3M. OK I guess if you have that sort of money to burn. Hence the title of the car

It certainly is Paul. I gave it the title "Clap Ferrari" because I supposed that is exactly what a Chinese visitor might say.. :) whilst ID'ing the owner in a rather unsubtle way.. :quirk:

It looks a design mash up to me and is probably better in the flesh, because it's bum certainly looks bigger in that get up. Jim's P4/5 is a work of art by comparison - what surprises me is they always seem so very careful when creating anything with their brand on, but they clearly did this only for cash.?

But, does anyone have any better shots of it? Jury is on it's way back in already!!!

 I enjoyed myself & I hope the club members who worked so hard on the stand did too, my THANKS to them all, particually the crew who set up & took down in the hot weather, still better than mud & rain!

Thanks to Dave Collins & Glenn Mason for the loan of their beautiful examples of a RCR Mk11 (1015) & Southern GT Mk1 (1075)

Look at the pics (in other posts) of the club stand & spot the great looking desk (we use it as our sales table), a GT40 rear clip in Gulf colours, thanks Terry of www.parcfermehampshire.co.uk

Finally, we put a smile on so many peoples' faces as they passed by or stopped to chat & that's what it is all about.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

David.

Thanks David and all who helped on the stand. My only misfortune was to lose all of my Friday shots!!! by viewing them though a HDMI cable though my TV and forgetting to turn the camera off before unplugging the cable. The wonders of new technology? I did mange to put some club leaflets though GT40P/1046 small window and will try and meet the owner at the Revival. I had a great chat about the Chaparral 2E with Jim Hall jnr and Jim Edward they showed me the front flap and that was one of the pictures I lost!!! My only gripe about the Festival is wasting time trying to cross the track especially when you using a Mobility chair and cannot access the footbridge.
By the way the Gulf Porsche 917 in Pauls post 1 is Mark Finburghs I meet him when Brian Redman was driving his car.
Regards Allan

I could more than likely get those pictures back for you if you can be bothered to send me your memory card and subject to me having the correct card reader, SD card etc...??

Where was the club stand? I looked, but the only club stand I found was for the Bognor Regis Motor Club.

We were in one of the avenues of white marquees opposite the Harley Davidson stand, just down from the yellow & white striped awning of the sunglasses stall.
Yes , yellow & white stripes - and the organisers objected to our white marquee ! :furious::furious::furious::furious:
