    SLC in Bolton?

So I'm picking up my daughter from a halloween party and I see a partially finished SLC in a garage bay. Rang the bell but no one answered. As someone considering a SLC, I would love to learn more about the car and see one up close. I live down on Vaughn Hill so all of 1/2 mile away.

    SL-C 002 build Bob DeNyse

One other thing that can dramatically help is really good fluid. Nothing compares to Castrol SRF IMO.

    Rumbles SLC Build

Lots of power, cheap, reliable...pick 2. There is a reason most race cars use a dry sump.

    Dean's SLC build thread

Nice setup Dean. One thing to be aware of is that AFFF can freeze and crack the bottle, at which point the systems doesn't work. Make sure to take the bottle out during the winter months and also if you're at an event early in the season.

    Thinking about painting my car

Super cool looking stuff, but at $15/sf...yikes!

    Caster/camber/toe?

I align my race cars myself at home. My setup is definitely more than you need, but it does make it faster. Before you start, you need to find a completely flat are. Even your garage floor will have a slight pitch to it, so use a water level (bucket and a long piece of clear tubing) and...

Running at Putnam Park in two weeks

Sounds like fun! But I think you're setting your sights too low. I'd guess a race SLC with 450hp & slicks would be more in the ~1:11 range, which is what a Porsche GT3 Cup can run. For a street car, more like 1:16 or so. Show 'em what a SLC can do!

    Rumbles SLC Build

Doesn't sounds right to me either. The 930 box is extremely strong and race proven over many, many years.

First day of sorting out the new SL-C

Very cool. Are you going to race it in NASA?

    SL-C powerplant possibility?

I agree. Once you get above ~400hp in a street car its pretty much unusable in a safe manner anyway. I get having a ton of power in a race car, but even then having balance in the chassis is more important than outright power.

    Dry Sump Tank

I personally hate seeing oil temps above 200 in a race. 230 is no good in my opinion. Granted, this is from my experience in air cooled Porsches, but the higher the oil temp, the shorter the engine life.

    ricardo trans oil cooler

I've raced many porsches over the years with the G50 trans, and it is definitely very strong if you can keep the fluid temps down. You don't really need that big of a cooler, just getting the fluid out of the housing and into some air flow works. The one other things that can happen on the...

Dean's SLC track test and tune

Nice write-up. Not sure what slicks you are running, but you should try Dunlops. They ain't cheap, but the grip is unreal, especially when new. Lots of 18" sizes available. The only distributor on the east coast is Sasco Sports. Tire Specs :: SascoSports

    Keeping it Lite

Reducing weight is the one thing that helps with every performance aspect of the car: acceleration, deceleration and cornering. For a light car like the SLC, I would guess that a 10hp gain would yield the same acceleration benefits as reducing ~35lbs. But the 35lb reduction would overall be a...

    Keeping it Lite

I would think floating rotors would only save you at most 1lbs/corner, or a total of 4lbs for the whole car. If you want to save any significant weight in the braking system, you'll need a composite/ceramic rotor. A ceramic rotor will save ~10lbs per corner, or 40lbs total. They are...
