    Scale plastic model kits

Hello, I've been looking through my local model shops and have come up with nothing that resembles a scale plastic kit of a GT40. Does anyone know of a large scale plastic kit of a MK1 GT40? I'm looking for 1:24, or better still 1:12. Any help would be most appreciated.

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

Would we have a problem pumping viscous fluid like oil from the back of the car to the front and back again, especially with small bore piping? And in my humble opinion, those side intakes on the VBM look really crap, the front end looks tasty, but the wheel arches need return material at the...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

A very realistic approach to the quandry of developing the GT40 Kevin, and it fits in well with this forum. No doubt someone is going to come in and try and pull your points to pieces. I mentioned the tendancy for the GT40's nose to lift at high speed and start to wander and the replies...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

William, Welcome to this (out) post. I think you're on the money when it comes to describing what a supercar is on a subjective level. We tend to measure every car that has been by what is new and groundbreaking today, whereas I'd lean towards comparing performance cars of a particular era...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

Mike, I don't want anyone to think their opinion is being disregarded, as it differs from another. I agree with a lot of what people are saying, even if the final outcome is different from mine. I've been looking at replicas myself, but am contemplating building my own car. Whether that...

That's quite a reasonable list of perameters Joe. Although cost shouldn't be considered - The likes os Ultima and the like would then be excluded. Maybe if we said that a supercar had to fulfil 15 of your 23 points. Mid mount a twin turbo V8 in a Ford Fiesta Popular, around B-reg and we'd...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

And anyway, we've gone away from trying to find out how the designers on this forum are doing with their respective projects, we're actually discussing our own car. Anyone is welcome to make suggestions and pass on ideas - you could see it in the flesh one day. So rather than smug replies...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

I really have to watch what I type... And syncronise thinking speed with typing speed... My point is how do we catagorise these marques when they have no real heritage (less than a decade in most instances)? I find it odd that we can differentiate between cars of similar performance and put...

So if a supercar has to have heritage, then where do cars such as the Gumpert Apollo, Koenigsegg, Mosler,Pagani, Saleen, Ultima, Spyker, Noble, Stealth and I could go on and on giving you examples of Supercars with no Heritage than more than 5-10 years, so nothing in your opinion, Mike. I went...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

Hi Ian, this must be your first post on this particular thread. Welcome! I've seen the Ariel Atom before - pretty psycho machine even in its standard guise, never mind with a crazy 600 nag bent 8. Howard, I agree with you, maybe Dennis' build skills are so bad that anyone passing one of his...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

Dennis, Of course these cars are going to have a level of fit and finish above what the average 'kitcar' builder could do with their cars. However, a kitcar doesn't cost 300-400k and if I was spending that kind of money, I'd expect a little more than naff nylon loop carpet and dodgy vinyl...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

Giant killers could be an interesting offshoot, but I'd rather have the reliability of a well tuned V8, over a highly strung 4 pot belting out the same horse power. Also the deep thunderous rumble and the bellow from a V8 is far more satisfying than the psssssssst of a blow-off valve. If we...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

Lightweight does it for me, the argument of improved cornering characteristics wins above ramming a huge motor in the chassis and waiting for the battle to start at 100mph plus. I think the basic premise of this chassis/car has been laid out. 1) Mid mounted V8 of some description - although an...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

I'm with Howard on the interior and exterior bling - let's keep the concept simple. The use of alternate materials to cover seats, dash etc will make a great deal of difference. Alcantara, Neoprene rubber and a good quality floor covering should turn the interior out quite nicely. Air Con...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

Gentlemen, I do agree with your sentiment, we could go to the ends of the earth, to build a mind warping car, but in reality it would never work, as well as looking like a pig. Not very practical. However, I don't think its too much to assume that if one had a replica, or original sportscar...
