At this point, what is left attached to prevent you from just pulling the motor and trans together and allowing you to do this right. I would lift it out and redo the pan gasket with full access.
Unless your barrels were "sealed" at the top, the two barrels would eventually level off (assuming they are both the same diameter). The 10' length of 1" pipe isn't helping the situation in terms of time it takes.

Randy - regarding your build sequence, I don't think you can install the fuel tanks/cells with the front suspension installed. I know others have fallen prey to that and had to totally remove the front suspension. Others can confirm this.
I know members that have used these guys to make replacement fuel cells for replicas. Would be curious to know their position is (as you asked) on metal can fuel tanks like in the 40. Not sure how you would get foam Into a completed tank unless they are being made with an access panel.

Douglas - your part looks darn good to me. Question, could the STEP file be used to have someone machine this part from thin aluminum? I am thinking about that, polishing the "chrome" parts, and painting the remainder. Could someone with a standard CNC do this using your file? thanks very much.
