Info on my Mid engined project

Thanks for the complements. I put the website together for a couple of reasons. Firstly, just to document the project for myself so I would have some permanent record of the progress. Secondly, to hopefully inspire other people to have a go at designing their own cars. The concept for the car...

Info on my Mid engined project

Although not GT40 related you may be interested in the mid engined car I am designing and building. Its a Le Mans style prototype car powered by a suzuki hayabusa. I will be mainly using it as a track day car. Some day I plan on building a GT40 as a street car probably from one of the available...

Building a car and wanna know the costs....

I personally know of a couple of Ultima's (and a stealth) that raced in Canada and Grand AM. They both had the fuel cell in a sealed compartment next to the driver instead of the passenger seat. If you are thinking of racing an Ultima, I wouldn't bother unless you want to make serious...

Left hand drive with left hand gear change is this possible?

Don't really like the idea of a right hand drive car as it would effect resale badly. Also I don't like central gearchange on mid engined cars due to the convoluted path the linkage has to take.

    Gettrag tranny opinions?

Robert, Is that six speed in anyway related to the one used in the Audi S4?

Left hand drive with left hand gear change is this possible?

Hersh, How does the center shift feel? The reason I ask is that I have driven mid engined cars with center shift and they didn't feel very precise. From what I remember they used solid shift rods which required a number of universal joints. This probably contributed to the sloppy feeling.

    Donor question

Yea, thats why I asked because I saw the mention of reconditioned parts. Due to some totally wacky rules about importing kit cars into Canada it would be much easier if I sourced these seperately to the rest of the kit.

    Donor question

What car do the front uprights, stub axles, steering rack and brakes come from on the RF?

    Robert - tire sizes

How about Hoosier R3S03, they do 275/45ZR16 in their road race R-Compound. Very sticky tires and great on the track.

    Racelogic traction control

I have a V8 racelogic traction control system including wheel sensors left from my aborted Ultima project. If anyone is interested I am willing to sell it at a discount from purchased price.

Good book for people interested in scratch building cars

Mark, its a long story but basically Canadian customs wouldn't let it into the country. The scratch build project I am on now was next on the list after the Ultima so it just got bumped in priority. Probably will be more fun anyway and better handling.

Good book for people interested in scratch building cars

Given the talk of scratch building GT40's and modifying suspension setups, I have come across a good book by Allan Staniforth called "Race and Rally Car Sourcebook : The Guide to Building or Modifying a Competition Car" 4th addition. This gives a very practical approach to designing cars in...

    Transaxles???

I had a G50/52 transaxle built by Powerhaus II for an Ultima. I had to cancel the project due to problems importing the kit into Canada. The box was built to handle 575hp and 550 ft/lbs of torque and included Custom ratios Billet shift forks Billet side covers Motorsport synchros Custom oiling...
