Did get the body and tube framing. Just haven't had time to post any pics.
Everything looks great. The rear is one piece which is nice.
Started positioning the rear frame into the donor. I was conservative in my initial cutting of the body which is good. I have placed the frame in and out...
I've looked at various transaxles for a while. I have a G96/01 and paid $2k for it. The norm appears to be between $2k to $3k. That's without LSD. Right after that purchase, I found a G50/52 with LSD only 10k miles for $7800. I couldn't pass it up. Most I've seen are above $10k.
I looked...
The v8's discussed with harness is under $9k. That's just under $9k for 500+ hp.
From the research I have done, I am unable to find a daily driver 4 or 6 cylinder motor with turbo with 500+ hp in the similar price range with the same level of dependency.
I was about to post a G96 box for sale for $2k plus shipping. I just got it a few weeks ago and was going to use it for my build until I found a G50/52 box with LSD.
The G50/52 should be here any day now.
I am still debating where to get my LS3 from. Jegs has a 376/525hp for $7500
Thats 490...
Yes, mine was in the shop getting the additional tubing (roll cage). The kit is being shipped complete. Only pieces needed are the ones not included.
Hoping to pick up at carrier terminal Friday. Assume all goes well, should be able to post some picks of the various larger pieces early next...
I am not aware of the total counts but my Apex was shipped from RCR end of last week. I should have it by Friday this week.
I already have all other donor parts and had already cut-up the eclipse in January.
Will be using a v8 and G50 transaxle.
I had been researching the engine options for a while. Prior to making the V8 decision, I was going with the VR6. I had seen a few and still see some in the $750 range with around 80k miles. A standalone harness/cpu isnt expensive. Bolt it up to a VW trany and good to go. You can easily get...
power brakes and steering
Does anyone know the intended steering option. Rack-n-pinion is fine. power steering would require extra plumbing from front to rear unless went electric pump.
same question for brakes. electric power brake pumps are available. tilton and wilwood make decent...
Absolutely. I didnt want to suggest any particular brand. That is exactly what i'm have budgeted for as well. Was thinking the existing may be salvageable but after getting into it, I'd say isis is easier.
For someone on a budget, the existing is manageable. As a test, i had the battery...
the tunnel has a secondary bolt on metal plate. its one piece front to rear. its about 8 inches at the widest point. plenty of room for radiator tubes and ac tubes. the original brake and fuel lines mount under the passenger side.
i lived in orange county for 30 years. would die without ac...
