Does anybody know what causes the gear whine on a 016 gear box. I have heard is is quite prevelant. It appears above 3000 RPM in all gears. I rebuilt the box with new bearnings and no change.

Has anybody out there atually rebuilt an 016? What are the parts recommended for replacement? Is having a manual, fctory or otherwise mandatory? Are there any special tools required? My transaxle is a '85 5N. Are these transaxles identical across the model range for a given year?

It takes a lot of elbow grease to get the job done. It might just be easier to replace it. I was even able to bend the headlight covers without heat. I used some extra thin (3/32?) plexiglass. I just had to be careful, don't try it on a cold day.

The only thing I have noticed with lexan, and glass could be worse, is that the angle that you look through the lexan with the rear view mirror is angled enough that vision is partly obscured. Does anyone know if glass is any clearer?

When I was looking for seats for my KVA I went to a speed shop that had these in stock. They were too wide to fit in my car. Granted, I am running a center sction that is 6"+ wide for the cooling lines. I would check the specs on the Corbeau website to make sure they will fit.

According to the shop I went to everything needs to be balanced together. This includes the harmonic balancer and con rods. Balancing is especially impotantant as the stock flywheels came with a preset amount of "imbalance". A flywheel from another application won't have this.

Hello! I have an early series KVA with Granada/Cortina suspension. The car is on the road after a lot of restoration work. I still have a lot to do but it's loads of fun. I am currently building new gas tanks. I am located in Northern California outside of SF.

Just how have people modified their internal shifter linkage to exit on the right. I made up a external setup to keep it coming out on the left hand side, crossing over the top of the transaxle, and then proceeding up to the right hand shifter. Seems to work fine. Any pictures would be great!
