Gt 40 w/ indy four- cam

august, If you want to see pics of the Indy engine you can find it in a few publications of GT40 book. Offhand I can't recall the name of the books but let me just say, it looks absolutely awesome! Those big air-intakes shaped in a V with the bundle of snakes headers joining down the middle of...

    Safir Mk I Tub?

Hello Jim, Is it possible for you to get some pics of 1145 or other Safir cars own by Scott? That is if he still has it. I hope it's not too much trouble for you. And it's no rush. Also, I don't mind getting in touch with Bob Wood again if you have his number. Very surprise to hear that he owns...

    Safir Mk I Tub?

Hi Bill, During the height of insane car prices in 1990, I remember the GTZ had an asking price of C$750,000.00 or so. There were no takers. I think it was around that time too when a Ferrari GTO went for US$14 Mil and GT40 1075 went for US$10 Mil. Unbelievable! You're probably right about the...

    Classiccars Magazine March 2003

It is a crazy world out there. Remember a few years ago when Holman Moody built his MK II car? He was asking US$700,000.00 for it and that's not even a real one! If I'm not mistaken, he only built one, Victor

    New/Old Engines

I am always curious to know about the engines that are put into cars of classic designs like Cobras or GT40s. E.g. Does Ford still supply these classic (or outdated designs) with Webers or Holleys? If so, how do they pass emmissions test to be road worthy? Or does the Gov't exempt these type of...

    Safir Mk I Tub?

Hi Eric, I had spoken to Dave Cohen very briefly only once back in the early 90's. There's no way he'll remember me. We had a gathering of Italian exotic meets at an assocate's house who owns a super rare Alfa GTZ. Dave brought his even rarer Alfa 2.9. There were other cars - a TR and my Lambo...

    Safir Mk I Tub?

Hi Rick, If this is of any interests to you. There was also another guy that was in charge of all MK Vs imports into the US and Canada. His name is Bob Wood. I had spoken to him back in '98 or'99. Off my head, I think he owns P1136. I tried caling him again a year later but the line was no...

    GT40 Restoration Site

Amazing site. They should put the name of their shop clearly so all could see it. Or at least have a "back to main page" link. Great great shop.

    Right-hand drive in the U.S.?

RHD shouldn't be a problem in the country because the original cars (with the exception of a few MK IIIs) came that way anyway. Even the MK Vs (newer GT40s) are all RHD with Right gear shift. Not only is this feature true to the original design but it is so much more exotic too. Cheers

    Safir/JW GT40 MK V

Hi Rick, Yes, please send me scan pictures of the MK V brochure. I am interested. Do you also have pictures of P1116? I know of Lamont Johnson's awesome MK V. It was featured in Automobile magazine. That's how I frist heard of the MK V anyway. Do you know if he still owns it? P/s I tried your...

    Safir/JW GT40 MK V

Hi Rick, Wow! I can just imagine. Don't mind to hear more of your story about P1116. Do you have any pictures of the car or your visit with Peter Thorp? I am planning a special website dedicated to the MK Vs and need all the images of all the cars built. Regards, Victor

    Safir/JW GT40 MK V

Hello, I am a newbie here and am very surprised to hear of the MK V GT40 being discussed here. Several years ago I had been in another mailing list and enquire about the MK Vs, hardly anyone even heard of it. About the same time, I wrote to Peter Thorp and from his reply, said he has the last...
