    Cav f1?

I found this CAV GT40 on the Fantasy Junction site, gorgeous car but unusual F1 setup, still uses a clutch pedal. Does anyone know what might be involved to change this to a manual shift? 1966 CAV Ford GT 40 Replica

Registering in CA with Oregon Plates

Hi Rod, will definitely get more familiar with the process if I do go that route however I suspect the car will sell to one of the 4 interested parties now. Their interest has been renewed with this latest development. Mike, the owner lives in Williams, OR about an hour east of Medford up in...

Registering in CA with Oregon Plates

If I figure out a way to buy this car myself, I could continue to drive it under current OR registration and just do the transfer in 2011, meanwhile get on the list for SB100. The owner is a very good friend and not in a rush to sell, the current plates and registration are good through 2011...

Registering in CA with Oregon Plates

Thanks Mike, at least this puts us in a much better position for CA registration, I welcome the SB100 process vs our previous position any day.

Registering in CA with Oregon Plates

That may be but still a huge victory, getting it in CA as a 1993 would not be possible. We can now market this car successfully in CA, major hurdle overcome today.

Registering in CA with Oregon Plates

The owner just got back from his DMV office and was able to make the change! It is now a 1965 Ford GT40. The first title had not been issued yet despite having a temporary and the DMV worker said it was incorrectly done to begin with. He should have the title in a week or two and we can show...

Registering in CA with Oregon Plates

Sorry, my mistake, thought the reference was to my comment. I should know this week if the owner was successful getting the title changed. He already checked into it online with OR DMV and there is a form to do this. He also found that OR DMV expects cars like this to be registered as the year...

Registering in CA with Oregon Plates

I meant financially and was not referring to the registration process. If the owner of the car is successful getting his title amended, then I would try to "find a way" to buy the car myself. I would never try to bend the rules or pull a fast one with registration, not worth the risk to me. You...

Registering in CA with Oregon Plates

Thanks Mike. We'll see how it goes. If I can find a way, I may buy it myself. This car is more fun than any of my previous cars, especially after we just had the Webers smoothed out.

    Hi From California

Thanks Jim, I did post a new thread and have been getting some great input. The tricky part with mine is that it is currently registered in Oregon as a 1993 ERA, that may cause some issues here. I am hoping it can be registered by the engine year which is a Boss 302, 1969 I think. Mike

Thanks, I will check with Danny Dalena in Conn. He built the engine.

Registering in CA with Oregon Plates

Thanks Julian, it might be worth driving the car over to my local DMV office to chat with the person who handles these types of cars. Selfishly I hope it doesn't sell and I can work out an arrangement myself. I have had a couple of fellows from Canada express interest and they did ask if I had...

Registering in CA with Oregon Plates

Thanks guys, looking more promising already! I will check out the link although I think this car will be unique in that it is already registered in another State but if I can register in CA using the engine year, I am golden. Mike
