Does anyone recognise the air filter on the engine, not seen one before with air going in the top as well as the side. Maybe useful for my car if I can find one. Any ideas?

Malcolm, that is a K&N Xstream Air Flow Top filter that goes with their regular side-flow filter. Check out this link: X-Stream® Air Flow Assemblies, Air Filters, and Air Filter Tops They are available from most performance suppliers.

It is from K&N, the make them in a bunch of different sized lids that you can use on your filter or one of theirs. You can mix and match so to speak.

It was the Oliver rods that put me off. You know what would have happened, you'd be cruising along, arm out the window minding your own business just chillin' and an Oliver would pop out of the block when you were least expecting it, abuse your engine bay and completely screw up your day.....
