Maleny lunch

Hi to all,

8 members plus GT40’s met a Aspley shopping centre, with a blue sky hot day, departing at 10.15 am for Kenilworth. Our Pres. Kevin was absent, competing at the Noosa Hillclimb.

The trouble with a Club run leaving mid-morning is that all the “Sunday drivers” have hit the highway and cruise along looking at the scenery and not taking much attention of which lane they are in, have to drive very slow when the lanes narrow and over-react when they see a parked Police car and slow 20 kph below the speed limit.

Some great sections of road in the hinterland to Maleny and even better to Kenilworth, with some fantastic ‘Hill climb” sections heading south-east from Conondale to Maleny. I had a perfect run along this section on the way home, overtook a couple of bikes and pulled away as they didn’t like the fast corners.

The large, old, historic Kenilworth Hotel was very busy (and warm), but the Kitchen was efficient and we had a nice relaxed lunch, with a walk through the town afterwards, finding a shady Coffee shop for Iced coffees and milk shakes.

A shame more members did not turn up for a really good event, even though a heavy rain storm was met around Brisbane on the way home.

Best regards

Peter
