Oulton Park Gold Cup 2008

A quick pic of the Club Line up from today's Oulton Park Gold Cup race meeting. Cars from left to right. Ege Ferguson, Charles Herd, Mike Pass, Kevin Farrington, Pete Thompson and hiding at the end Alan Snelson. A good time was had by all both today and sunday with some top cars racing with some demo runs from the featured marque which this year was Lola. A major feature of this event is that all the cars can run open exhaust pipes which in these PC times is a rare treat with lots of 2 litre screamers, many F5000 cars and the shrill shriek of a Surtees DFV engined F1 car. Music to the ears. Sorry I can't post the ethereal sounds ( and sheer decibels) and the smell of burning brakes and Castrol R fumes. The event drew a big crowd this year and circuit owner Jonathan Palmer dropped by in his helicopter and came by to chat. He asked Pete Thompson if the Ford 428 on the side of his GT40 was for real and was quite pleased to be told that it is. Nice when the main man shows up at his circuits and chats with the grass roots enthusiasts.
Cheers
Mike
