Right Hand Drive Pedal Box

Hi Guys,

Here's a few pics of a one-off right hand drive pedal box conversion we're doing for Angelos' 1075 CAV.

Starting out life as an early ZF car CAV#47 is now it's going to right hand drive and a whole bunch of things have to get moved, modified and fabricated.

On the pedal tray, the decision was made to eliminate the brake booster, provide a side pull throttle hook up and adjustable heel bar. The pedal ratios were changed and the box substantially beefed up.

This is not a production or upgrade part, I thought you might like to see the execution and process behind it.

Cheers

More pics...

The side pull throttle sends the cable down the left hand sill box with large gentle arcs and attaches to the Webers through the heat sheild, pulling sidways from the left side like the original cars. This is the second side pull throttle setup we've done and the improvement in throttle feel is staggering, smooth and easy to modulate with very little pressure and no noticable drag. Very cool...

As always, nicely done Ian and I hope it inspires other lefties to make the change via your services! Was the the right hand drive option available for Angelos' 1075 CAV? If not what was the motivation to change (other than "idle hands"...) ;)

Time for a visit soon, it's been a long winter...

Thanks Chris,

Angelo has the first CAV in Canada and chose the Gulf colours which at the time wouldn't have been my choice but now with the roundels, numbers, your decals the full impact of the car jumps out. To see the Gulf colours without all that just seems bland somehow.

Anyways, we had the car in for complete upgrades, front and rear steel uprights, new rear lower A-Arms (he had 1st generation parts), shifter to latest spec, drop the engine to correct height, in tank full pumps with vents and rollover valves etc.

So one thing led to another, once the car is down to the bare tub - how much worse can it be to go right hand drive? While we're at it the decision was made to go with one filler cap just like the later JWA cars. The prototype quick lift bracket was made on this car too.

So I guess the motivation was in getting as close to the original as possible. It's going to be a show stopper no doubt! Yes, please drop in sometime:)

Cheers
