This ancient thread indicates that Lee Holman can provide a exact replica.

Don’t know if that’s still the case or not ???
Regards Brian

My friend is currently building a batch. He has built many over the years. The lead time is about a year. He also makes the dry sump. You can DM me to get in touch.

I think I have an unmachined transmission case, and also a differential case if you are interested. I believe I still have all of the blueprints also. You can PM me.

There was an NZ bloke on this site trying to build a replica, keeps getting distracted by his many other projects.
well it's a white unicorn for sure, and if you find one don't negotiate the price just pay it
Knowing the parts reqd to build a T44 I have difficulty understanding why it should cost $70k USD. Perhaps for those building 100% copies, but the layout would sugest there is a lot of 'development' costs being incurred. For instance a top loader is around $2700, QC gears $200 Locker $1500. R&P , Housings are all specialised bits, but with outside the box thinking other production parts can be substituted.

I am with you it should not be that hard to clone an original, i am sure to have one case made would be expensive but if 15-25 were made I am sure that would bring the cost down. However there is a liability of these things exploding and making everyone mad. The liability of trying to clone and have them work correct is high

We thrashed all this out a few years ago with contributions from others that were on the verge of building other transaxles, De Lynn was further down the track but ran into component supply problems when the gear vendor was bought up by another company . IAnother Kiwi built one or two that ressembled a Hewland in some ways but it all turned to custard when it failed in early dyno testing. IIRC his car ( McLaren ) has now done some track work.
The NZ T$$ look a like is ( or will have ) three versions, one virtual copy, but with production parts,Synchro, locker or Tru Trac, production CV's etc, 2nd version stronger gear parts to handle a few more HP, 3rd version will be Jerico internals & a 9" on 35 spline Locker etc.. But with watching what happend to others actual strength is a big unknown. Ive had one young guy down here who can absolutely destry Jericos etc and its not hard to visualise how a bit of case deflection will make things go bang in short order.

If your case is a good copy of the original with the same ( or better) material properties then you should benefit from all the testing and design that Ford originally put in. I imagine that's the plan.
