Quaife QBE62G vs Porsche 996 trans

One more point in favor of Porsche- as in the case of the G-50, there are many gear sets available.

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

In the 70s here in AZ, window film was very popular. The best was from 3M but even it required replacing every few years.Scraping the old film off with a razor blade on Lexan might be difficult.

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

RE: Lexan Windshields Some time ago there was a grade of Lexan polycarbonate on the market that had a hard surface coating applied. I forget the trade name but for a windshield it might be worth researching.

    363ci V8 Starting Issues

Saturday morning I tried to start my Dodge 3500 diesel pickup truck, turned the key and ... nothing. Jumper cables did not charge the battery at all, it remained at 8 volts. (I should note that because the cranking current required for a diesel, it uses two big batteries wired in parallel)...

    Please Stop My Confusion

I know what you mean. My car too was a daily driver for a while. I drove it to work, to car shows and on short trips. It was always the center of attention and attracted many clapped- out Mustangs to challenge me- I resisted. As I've posted before, a car like yours will always generate 3...

    20+yr old Aeroquip lines

Aeroquip makes a number of liners for stainless braided hose. One car I owned had the rubber liner (type 601?} in the fuel system and it leaked like a sieve. I have never had a Teflon- lined hose leak, even after years in service.

Looking for a tube bender recommendation

You will need a commercial tube bender for this size tubing. A metalworking firm is who you should contact.

    Steering rack installation

It is difficult to get the steering column away from interfering with your feet. Getting tangled up in the pedals is a recipe for disaster.

    Adventure RV

Here is the story of that trip. The previous year my friends and I ventured into the Wind River Range in Wyoming to climb Gannett Peak, the highest point in the state. At that time its height was listed as 13,785 feet. On that trip we approached from the East side of the...

Feedback on Frame Design – Over-Engineered or Solid?

Rowan,If you have not seen my build diary, you may find it helpful. The video was made of photos that I took over a period of years and it isn't in chronological order- painted chassis, unpainted chassis, etc. This structure was built to conform to the SCTA rules for Bonneville. "SCTA" =...

Feedback on Frame Design – Over-Engineered or Solid?

The first chassis that I designed and built was for my Sabel Mk III. I generally followed the guidelines outlined in Costin & Phipps "Racing and Sports Car Chassis Design". In addition, I built a model of the space frame out of 1/8" balsa wood. Then I applied torsional loads through the...

Feedback on Frame Design – Over-Engineered or Solid?

A chassis & cage of 1,5" OD with an 0.090" wall should be OK. The roll cage & chassis should be built with seamless SAE 1020 mild steel tubing. This allows the structure to deform plastically in a collision, absorbing energy as it deforms. I think you can greatly simplify your structure without...

    Adventure RV

Excellent photo, Chris. Nice video production, too. Looks like you had fun rappelling down and chimneying up. :) I can recommend a trip to Wyoming into the Wind River Range. It is a beautiful alpine region that offers spectacular scenery and great hiking. I'm too old for that now but here is a...
