A lot of guys around here have helium added to the argon. It helps the impurities float out of the weld. Also use a CLEAN stainless steel brush to clean the aluminum before welding. As discussed here. Light-pressure manual or powered wire brushing with a clean stainless steel wire brush usually...

As I still am waiting for my new ZO6 or Zora that I have deposits on, I found this humorous.

If using a mig on aluminum, a spool gun works the best for us to achieve consistent beads. This helps prevent the aluminum filler wire from stretching. Regards Brian
