Apology

This is going to really confuse the electorate, one can normally tell when a candidate is lying because their lips move. Telling the truth WTF does he think he`s doing?

The two most abused and misused words in the English language: "Lie" and "Hate"

These are the ultimate form of strongly premeditated negative actions and thought. Save them for genuine liars and hate filled people.

There needs to be a degree of separation between these events and pathological liers and hate filled psychopaths.

Otherwise, it's economy with the truth or a version of the truth (not a Lie), or a sense of dislike for someone.

I am convinced none of our age group would have used these words in this particular context 10 years ago and to do so now is I think a retreat into immature popular-ism.

(please note, I have not read the piece in question but I would imagine it's more of the same)

Ditto.

What he said was true for 95% of Americans. For the rest, if you didn't know minimum standards were going to require changes to your plan, well, I'm sorry, that's on you.

This "lie" stuff is just more hyperbole.

Amidst the fighting in Washington and the reports of Marketplace site outages, one issue surrounding the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) hasn’t been addressed: scammers. Security company Trend Micro reported that they’re already seeing spam targeted to words like “medicare,” “enrollment,” and “medical insurance.”
As a public service, I remind everyone that there are over 700 Fake OBAMA CARE websites potentially stealing your information when you sign on. REMEMBER, The REAL SITE is the one that DOES NOT WORK.

Good Lord! We've more in common than I realised.....

But Jeff why do seniors and men need things like pregnancy coverage there should be room for a plan that is focused on major medical that doesn't require you to pay for silly things you will never use. The idea that the plans people had were substandard is a red herring. I'll add that I'm much less interested in his apology than I am in what he intends to do about it

Think about this. How much dammage can you do if you go off the rails a and just completely fuck up. Get drunk drive your car and kill somebody, burn down the neightborhood with your brush clearing operation, punch out your dentist because it hurts, beat the hell out of the cable guy who is late.

Now what if national insurance had to cover everybody for everything they could possibly do stupid. $10 million persional liablity policy? 20mil, 100mil? For everybody!

That's national health care. Except only the half of us who work pay for it. Those are the makers who are pissed off. The takers love it. Anybody wonder why?

Ya he lied. Flat out lied. Anybody who thinks it wasn't premeditated from the beginning is a fool. What gets me is how long it has taken to call BOB a lier. He's been doing it for ever, and damn near every time he opened his mouth.

Ah, I see. Well, turnaround is pretty easy on this one. For something like 95-98% of us, the President's statement was correct, and for the other 5% (or less), well, the best that can be said for them was they were not paying attention. Because if they were, they knew minimum standards were coming.

So not sure where the foolishness really lies. Wait, yes I do.

Oh. And national healthcare? It seems that, well, just the entire rest of the Western, industrialized, world has a form of it and, get this, they (a) provide health care to their citizens at 20% or more LESS per capita than us; (b) their citizens are for hte most part happy with the care they get and (c) on the whole, their systems produce better results than ours.

I do agree if you HAVE to have a BOOB job NOW, 'Murica Fuck Yeah! is the place to be. Otherwise, we have a lot to learn from others about how to manage a health care system as best as is possible.

Space programs? We rock.

Aircraft carrier battle groups? Kick ass.

Software companies nad technology? Same.

Airliners? World fucking class.

Health care? Totally screwed up and arrogantly refusing to adopt what has been tried and proven in the rest of the world.

My statement was qualified by two major caveats - both of which are fairly recent innovations (the wholesale thievery by 'health tourists' and total incompetence of management) - the political meddling has gone on for years but the people are partly to blame as they've allowed the issue to become politically partisan.

It doesn't have to be like that, it wasn't like that, America be warned by these errors... and try not to kill the baby before it walks.

Not for nothing, but 5% is 16,000,000 people, twice the population of New York City and one hell of a lot more people that have been able to sign up for BO care, if that's all there is. Remember the government supplied the 5% number, of course they can be trusted, period!

Heck, the some government that brought your the U.S. Postal Service, the IRS, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, AMTRAK, should do a great job with health care. The movie trailer is the web site roll out and the feature will be when the employer mandate is reinstated. That will dump millions more into the ranks of the uninsured.
If some want to look at numbers, approximately one third of the Census Bureau estimate of the 45.7 million person population of uninsured persons is actually currently eligible for government insurance programs such as Medicaid/Medicare, but has elected not to enroll. These people would be signed up for government insurance if they ever made it to the emergency room. This is true with or without Obamacare.
9.7 million of the uninsured are not citizens of the United States.
18.3 million of the uninsured were under 34. Some in this age group may have simply determined that they are young and healthy and thus can do without coverage.
US Citizens who earn too much money to qualify for government assistance with insurance programs but who do not earn enough to purchase a private health insurance plan make up approximately 2.7% percent of the total US population (8.2 million of approximately 300 million total population, by 2003 figures).
The HHS internal forecast is 93 million Americans would lose their health insurance due to the Obamacare law and rules about adequacy of insurance. Many more people will choose to be uninsured due to the cost of the Obamacare programs. The penalties for being uninsured start at $95 per year, but the penalties can't be collected by the IRS if a person does not have a tax refund to attach.
The out of pocket costs required by Obamacare's Silver Plan for a non-smoking mother and father with two children making a gross before income taxes of $50,000 (roughly average salary for VA) would be $13,765 per year including the deductible of $10,400. That's 28% of their gross income -- not very affordable and about the same as guidelines for a mortgage payment. For such a family making $100,000 of gross income, the cost would be $21,431 including the deductible of $12,700, or 21% of gross income. With such high deductibles doctors are stuck with trying to collect cash from the patients, even at regulated charge structures. Thus is makes sense for primary care doctors and care delivery points such as hospitals not to participate in Obamacare, Medicare and Medicaid.
So in the longer term, getting individuals enrolled into a program will be a far lesser issue than getting treatment and care under such programs.
