    Mark B's Build Thread

Mark: Did you anodized the cap or did you buy it like that ? I love the black color. Also dumb question, could you use the gasket between the two metal pieces and so everything will be on the outside of the spider instead of sandwiching the fiberglass or that would be too thick and will not...

Restarting my SLC project in West Texas

thank you, I guess the only option I have at this point is to oversize the holes a bit and then cross my fingers , Cam has not had any problems with the windows cracking so far, he did the counter -sink bolts and rubber nuts

Restarting my SLC project in West Texas

I just looked at the beginning of this thread, was started on May 19th, 2020. So I need to have the car at a a 98% or better finish by May 19th 2024, (meaning a few cosmetic details left, of course the car will never be 100% , right? ), and for sure must be driving on the street by then. So...

Restarting my SLC project in West Texas

Next was the rear clam window and vents, the vents were straight forward , I ordered the standard ones, the finish looks standard but they are made from carbon fiber anyway, I'll take it, they are super light. I was very nervous about cutting the plexiglass, as everybody knows getting spare...

Restarting my SLC project in West Texas

I cut a hole on the rear clam for the clam to clear the transmission when fully opened , that meant the rear hinge had to be split in half and therefore the clam reinforced with extra layers of cloth fiberglass and an additional aluminum square tube. Hopefully it will hold . After the spider...

Alex: Remember that if you have the gated shifter the center console does not fit at all, and has to be heavily modified together with the bracket for the shifter cables. I don't remember what shifter you are going to use. I did ended up using the original center console because I love the...

Mark Love it, A GT40 for sale right now has the exact same color . Beautiful . I struggled with the paint decision as well, decided to go the Plasti Dip route for now like Cam, until all the cracks and rub spots are sorted out. but will paint gloss black the inside spider surfaces like Cam...

Restarting my SLC project in West Texas

I am way behind on my posts , I will try to catch up a little Next was the roof scoop duct, to direct air from the front scoop to the engine compartment , it also prevents water and debris from entering the cabin. Tricky to make for sure as it has to follow the roof curvature, fit between the...

    Alex's SLC build thread

Alex: A good piece of advice I got form Howard and Cam, make sure the steering wheel is centered on the seat, your legs will go a bit sideways to reach the pedals and that is not a problem , but the steering wheel MUST be centered to the seat , otherwise it will not be a good driving...

    Alex's SLC build thread

It is incredibly exciting, been daydreaming about it for years, literally. Thanks, stay the course , be consistent, work on it every week, don't get discouraged and you will get there. Remember is a marathon not a sprint. And don't be afraid to reach to others for help. Everyone here is...

    RCR 40 MKII Difficulty.

I took the FFR cobra class at Motts , even though it was a nice experience it is a totally different animal, the car was already built, so everything fits , no modifications are needed , just an assembly process. Even though mine is an SLC I assume the MK II build is also a much higher level of...
