i have been running a 302 in my gt40 for two years now, & i am as happy as a pig, that was untill a friend took me for a ride in his hilux - with a lexus v8. what a mind-blow, goes like a rocket & it sounds just like a merc 63 amg. i am now wondering what that engine will be like in my car...

thanks kym, at last, i have found someone who had the same problem. it has taken me almost a year & now there's light. i have an audi 016 petrol 5 speed box (3.89 final drive) onto a 302 windsor delivering around 350 bhp. goes like a rocket but reaches around 150km/h at 5500rpm in 5th, looking...

me again, with a lack of knowledge & a willingness to learn.....! i can only imagine that it's either a non-starter, physically impossible, expensive or totally rediculous, but has anyone successfully changed the final drive on an audi 016 5 speed gearbox? i know that gear ratio conversions...

i want to upgrade from an old manual audi 500e 5 speed "petrol gearbox" to a more recent audi 6 speed "diesel box" (not the most recent - cost being a factor). i believe that the diesel boxes are slightly biggger & that the gear ratios are longer, which is what i'm looking for - for longer legs...
