Ron Bradshaw - GT40 body designer

Does anyone have any information about Ron Bradshaw, credited with designing the GT40 body. I recently discovered that he also designed the Unipower GT, a successful small GT car utilising 1960s Mini engine and transmission installed in the rear of the car. I hadn’t registered that he was...

    Fortyfication issue 118

Excellent issue dropped through my letterbox today. Congratulations to all who contributed, edited and productionised it, a really impressive publication. Thanks to all involved and also to all who took on roles at the AGM. Very much appreciated.

    SPF front upright lower bearings

Thank you, Dave. That gives me confidence to take it all apart over the winter lay up. Sooner, rather than later so that I can get hold of the replacement parts if needed. I appreciate your very quick reply. Kind regards, Mark

    SPF front upright lower bearings

Greetings from Hampshire. Last MoT test showed up play (looked vertical) in the lower bearing on the driver side front upright on my SPF GT40 Mk1. Anyone have any idea/experience of what I’ll find when I get the time to pull it apart? Is there adjustment or will I be looking to source a new...

    Wilwood Master Cylinder Replacement

Thought that I'd follow up after finishing my master cylinder replacements. Dave and Rick - your advice was invaluable and saved me a lot of time. Also gave me the confidence to just get stuck in. The original m/cylinders were in a real state with the rear circuit cylinder seized and the...

    Wilwood Master Cylinder Replacement

Don, I hope that you got your master cylinders replaced last year. I'm just starting out on the same job (on 2140, early UK supplied car) and wondered how you got on with moving the ac evaporator to get access to the top of the pedal box/master cyls? Mine's well and truly glued in with masses of...

Which trailer to transport a GT40?

Neil, hi. I agree with Andy's comments although I've been able to fit my Superformance Mk1 onto a BJ Clubman, bed 14ftx73inches wide and an Indespension CT27167 16ftx76inches. I bought the 16ft Indespension as you then have the option of loading the car facing forwards but still keeping the...

    SPF drive shafts

Thanks, Rick. This is much appreciated. Is there a torque setting?

    SPF drive shafts

I'm just replacing the rear uprights and lower arms on my SPF GT40 Mk1 (2140) to repair some accident damage dating from before I bought the car. The next part of the swapover is to remove the driveshafts from the upright which requires undoing the 36mm bolt visible deep inside the spinner...

    Insurance who !

I just spoke to Heritage who told me that they don't have an appropriate scheme available at the moment for any GT40s valued over £30k.

    RBT no reverse

I don't want to hijack this thread, but for anyone coming across this, or similar ZF/RBT trans issues in the UK I can't recommend a chap called Paul Fleming in Maldon, Essex highly enough. He sorted me out quickly and clearly is right on top of repairing and servicing them. Happy to pass on his...

    RBT no reverse

Thanks, Larry. Same issue with mine although detent pin had fallen out of the cross shaft rather than sheared. Repair in hand now, grateful that it's not a bigger issue. Also gave me a chance to figure out how to pull the transaxle.
