    Original GT40 Mk II Heads?

May have at least partially answered my own question. Found a thread where Jay Cushman indicated the aluminum heads I mention were for Cobras whereas the C6 aluminum heads were for the GT-40s. However, Mustangtek site shows the heads I mention were for the Shelby GT-40 program, but who knows...

    Original GT40 Mk II Heads?

Had oil blowing out the valve cover gaskets on my Contemporary Cobra on to #5 and #1 plugs. So, I decided to clean the mess up, and replaced the valve cover gaskets on both sides. I had been told by the person who sold me the Cobra that his father, a racer, had bought the motor (have receipt)...

    Looking for FE engine knowledge

Hi Gale I have sideoilers in my GT40 and Cobra. I was planning on building the Cobra, but found a finished Contemporary Cobra with a Holman Moody built sideoiler installed. I therefore have the 427 sideoiler with Edelbrock heads (have original heads as well but someone previously had taken a...

    1966 gt40 mkii 427 so

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the 66 cars' 427 SO's had the one off NASCAR crankshaft and NASCAR rods (requiring the one off bearings)? Or, did the various engine teams diverge from NASCAR racing and install the "Lemans" rods in the GT40 (hence the name, 'Lemans rods')?

    Oil Temp Sensor

Am attending British GP this weekend. Can pickup Smiths oil temp Sensor/capillary at shop outside Silverstone. The sensor comes with either 78" or 120" capillary length. They have 78" in stock. Does anyone know if 78" capillary will work with oil temp sensor installed in oil filter housing in...

    Breaking Loose Half Shafts

Sealed the edges around the 'CV joint' to the wheels and the gear box to keep crud out of the ends of the half shafts since they weren't sealed. I also put extra grease in the open areas between the wheels/gearbox and the ends of the half shafts.

    Breaking Loose Half Shafts

Pic of my half shafts attached. I did not actually dismantle the CV's. I pulled the half shafts (one side at a time) from the car by removing the bolts from the inside of the half shaft first (came off pretty easily from the gear box), and then the bolts from the outside of the half shaft...

    Oil Temp Sensor

Turns out wire in center of wrapped wire is not disconnected from sensor. Anyone no why/how mechanical oil temp sensor can fail?

    Oil Temp Sensor

Just took 50th anniversary Lemans win drive. Even after having this beast for a while, can't get over the feeling this 427FE monster produces, and the straight pipes turn it into an 'e-ticket ride'! To business...OEM oil temp sensor wire that runs through the wrapped wire strand appears to...

    Maintenance

Am using MSD factory advance stop [21 degrees (blue)]; have two light silver springs installed in dist getting full centrifugal advance in at 1900 rpm; ran motor up to 3500-4000 rpm and set total advance to 36 degrees; took whatever that left me for idle advance; no vacuum connected in my...

    Maintenance

427FE SO set at 36 degrees total advance (no vacuum) continues to be a hard starter. So, up'd the ante on the battery. Put in an Odyssey 35-PC1400: - Pulse (5-second) Hot Cranking Amps (PHCA) 1400 - Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) 900 Still a hard starter, but cranked...
