As a customer of craft Performance my engine got a knock within 100 miles. Lance at craft was an awful experience. They did not deserve to be in the engine building business. I bought my engine back in 2021 and under 100 miles I gotta spend 8k to have it rebuilt/machined correctly.
I had a recent post on here about my troubles with engine purchased from Lance at craft Performance. Took over year to build windsor 410 and ended up selling me parts I didn't ask for and blended it into the invoice with no description. Long story short engine shipped broken in and turn key...
Many people are buying engine from craft Performance and many people get work done at got hot rod shop whom installed the engine that didn't check timing. I mean it's all good information to let people know craft Performance did a bad dyno and street rod plus didn't check timing. I'll post the...
Sorry man. I don't understand lot of engine building or mechanics. I already know I'm taking a loss on this and orginal post wasn't looking for a fix. Not wining at all. Orginal topic was for me to determine what was the cause of the engine going bad. Timing or bad dyno from craft Performance
My idea of hard driving is maybe hour of driving. Cruising 3300 rpm, 2 or 3 burnouts and not much over 90mph with a 5speed.. Realistically nothing that should have broken an engine. Nothing being hidden here.
Didn't think it make a difference what kind of car it is. Also driving car hard or easy shouldn't make a difference. It's a brand new performance engine. Pre broken in. A $11,000 engine should be able to handle few burnouts and highway speeds.
I kinda feel there are two sides here. Some feel dyno tune would have burnt it up. Keeping in mind his dyno tune is what engine builder used to break in the engine. Then some say timing would have caused my knocking.
Back to the beginning I drove it out of the installation shop about 140miles...
YouTube video of the knock. Car is a mustang. Proof of damage is engine builder allowed a third shop to diagnose the engine. They took off oil pan and was able to see piston damage cylinder 1.
If the third shop checked the timing and said it was 40 and engine only has140 miles isn't that enough to say the first shop who did the installation didn't check the timing. The installation shop installed a msd blaster ss and msd digital box. Car came with msd distributor, so I imagine the 3...
I don't believe there was a CPE check list. Just an engine in box, and recipt. Hot rod shop has done engine installs. Before this is a common practice for them.
I'll be calling the shop that installed this engine in the morning to ask him about the timing. Why it was at 40 and not at 34. How could it have changed if they did check it and what proof do they have of checking it. Invoice didn't show them checking timing.
I can't determine the difference in sound. I sent the engine builder the gopro video and he suggested preload idea. He also broke the engine in at his shop with his dyno graph reading showing a/f ratio 14+. I'm just in middle not knowing if this issue was caused by engine builder running super...
