I have thought about it. And it may be the road I take eventually. I want to run a Mustang II front suspension and a Thunderbird IRS rear with GT40 style rear control arms. So I would be doing a lot of modifications to the gtforte chassis to make it all come together. I'm just exploring...

Does anyone sell chassis plans for scratch-builders? I have seen the plans from Chris Melia and Renee. I was just curious if there are any plans that could be purchased that are verified to fit a certain body?

Thanks Roger! I will be using a Aviad pan so that seals my choice to plug the hole in the timing chain cover.

I haven't given up on the weber carb setup yet. I just wanted as much advice on this engine build before I start buying parts. I have limited access to good machinists where I live, so I have a substantial wait before my bare block will even be worked on. It gives me plenty of time to come...

I decided to remove and plug the dipstick tube in the timing cover. It looks like the one in the oil pan is in a better location.:thumbsup:

So many things to consider. My brain hurts.:huh:

Is it ok to leave the oil dipstick in the timing chain cover on my 289 or will it be impossible to reach once it it jammed up against the firewall?

What kind of intake and carb could I run if i decided against the weber setup? Running a normal intake and carb would change my cam choice from what you guys have been saying. Are there more options if I go roller cam with a four barrel carb? Also thanks for all the info from all the posts.

That is the route I will be taking. 180 degree headers are cheaper than that flat crank engine.
