For the tight tolerance areas, couldn't you have the areas masked by the anodizer? We do that at my work for press fits, bearing surfaces, etc.

I was thinking similar to what modern cars from the big supercar mfr's have. Wasn't sure how to clearly state that.

Has anyone ever built an SLC with modern semiauto paddle shift? Race or street? Just curious.
