GT40 Mk2 XGT-2 nostril

Hi I am looking to replicate the nostril cover from the #7 GT40 Mk2 XGT-2 from what I currently have, which is a plain single nostril. Does anyone know how to make the riveted in center divider, and the 2 aluminum wings on the sides of the cover. Any info or more detailed info on this style of cover would be appreciated, thanks

Steve,

I'm not sure replacing the single nostril is a good idea. I have a dual nostril and it restricts the radiator cooling!

Its more blade like than the dual nostril look and shouldnt block much air, just wondering how to make it

By now my blood type isn't A, B or O is closer to resin I've done so much fiberglass work on my project, but this looks like aluminum to me in close up pics, what I'm wondering is anybody have a template or an example to work from, thanks

Mine was made from an aluminium panel that was then riveted and bonded to the nostril. Also attached is a pic of 1046 showing the side aluminium panels.

The divider on the XGT-2 style of nose is extremely narrow and does not restrict airflow.

I made mine of fibreglass rather than riveting it in.

Thanks, I like that idea too, I might keep with the riveted style just because it looks more like the original, if anyone out there has any of these already made up or has a nostril already done like this they want to sell I could use a break from fabricating

How did you get the curved piece of aluminum to also have that 90 degree bend? Would you be interested in making one for me based on your template? Thanks

Mine is all fibreglass. I simply made a carboard template first, then cut some fibreglass to shape (made a sandwich of two flat sheets to get it smooth both sides and strong enough) and glassed it in top and bottom with chopped strand mat, then filled and sanded smooth.
