Anyone got $420k laying around?

I guesstimate the average “street” spec car Allan builds is in the neighborhood of 100-120k. Throw in the big motor, upgraded interior, electronics, tuning, suspension, brakes, and fuzzy dice. I’m still hard pressed to see where that extra 300k went.
That’s not to say I think the owner should take a bath on this, he’s owned it maybe 2 months and about 100 miles? So still “new”, but it’s hard for me to see that extra $300k of value.

Sudden unforeseen financial/business/health/family issues aside, I have a tough time understanding why someone would choose to spend gadzillions of dollars building a more-or-less 'one-off' car (or having it built) over 'X' number of months only to drive it 100 miles and then turn around and sell it...especially given the almost certain fact that one would never get out of a 'niche' car anywhere near what he has invested IN it.
'Seems no different than flushing money down 'porcelain facilities' to me...unless perhaps those 100 miles had proven to be THEEEEE END ALL AND BE ALL of all car rides ever experienced by man and therefore was worth every dime.

Sure. That's a valid possibility, Neil. It's one that suggests he didn't do his 'due diligence' prior to launching the project, though.
But, wouldn't it be much less costly for him to solve that particular issue by just installing a 'throttle stop' and/or 'boost limiter' on the car?
(For that matter, a simple engine swap would cost far less than the financial bath he's likely to take by selling the rig!)

Isn't this the one Allen built? How can this guy ask 420k for this car? He is crazy for asking that amount.
Is he crazy if someone buys it? Some people have more money than they can spend in 5 life times. Before you talk bad about him, why not sit back and see what happends.
@GranVille Thanks for your comment. I wasn't talking bad about anyone. I simply made a statement on how crazy i think it is to be asking that amount for the SLC. Granted some people have a ton of money, its also no reason to take advantage oF someone. To be honest i don't think the car is worth more then $150k - $180k. If you compare this SLC to something like the MClaren 720s the MClaren would win hands down especially at a starting price of $285k. I feel that if someone were to build the SLC with the sole purpose of selling then the price point should be less than $200k. It will be interesting to see what happens though!

Either way his wife now believes she knows how much money he spent building the car vs. what he may have told her he spent!
