Alternate door lock release.

I am looking for a simple alternate door release system, cause I have issues (physically) reaching the lever behind my shoulder while sitting in the seat.
I can do a simple T-Pull cable but that doesn't realy have the looks.

Door locks are SouthernGT suplied and the lever just bolts on the inside. That lever can be modifiet in any ways.

Also can use some ideas for a grab handle to close the door. Something a bit period correct. On the tracks I see mechanics act as a grab handle as they always close the door for the drivers.... So as I am the mechanic & co driver, I can close the door for my wife (the driver) but no change she drives away whitout me.

JP, this is the door handle setup on my car. Just a simple L-shaped lever attached to the door latch with a thin cable. Nice not having to reach back over the shoulder to release the latch.

I wrote an article for Fortification No. 67 (September 2005) on how I tackled the problem.

I cut a slot in the interior door face close to the front just under the cill then fitted a small horizontal pivoted lever which fitted into the slot. On the other end of the lever inside the door I fitted a threaded rod with a clevis on each end. The front end of the rod is attached to the new lever and at the rear attached to the existing door opener on the cill. By pushing the lever forward it opens the door. I painted the lever black to match the door colour to make it unobtrusive. That was about 18 years ago and has worked perfectly.

Haven’t hade it apart to see the guts.
Works well and pretty much out of the way.
On a Cav.
Can pull insert out and get a better picture.
