10E AEK-Z 6 GETRAG - Can anyone identify the port under this goopy mess?

Hello Everyone. This is a photo of the right side (looking from the rear) of a 10E rebuilt transmission purchased from Advanced Automotion. I asked Scott about this goopy mess and he told me not to mess around with this otherwise it may cause $800.00 in damage. I used to overhaul Chevy 350 turbo-hydromatics in High-School and I never heard of such a thing (I could be wrong).

I purchased 108 mm output flanges as well. This came with 100mm. So, I am starting to wonder about things.

Can anyone ID this mystery port? I have searched through IPBs and cannot seem to find anything.

Many thanks,
Don

That might be one of those bolts that the end is the axle something pivots on and removing it will drop a part into the transaxle.

Looks like his goop may be an attempt at idiotproofing his transaxles.

Yes it definitely looks like a professional job that goop:)

That bolt #11 under the goop, holds on the reverse relay lever #10. Remove the bolt and the relay lever will drop into the gears of the transmission, which will then be ground to dust when the transmission is put to use, essentially destroying everything inside. Of course when customers did this it was somehow my fault I didn't tell them not to remove the bolt.

As far as your comment about "Professional job". I looked into getting a special shear bolt made, which would have cost about $100, meaning added cost, where a bit of silicone was far less expensive and works just as good if not better because customers ask what's under it..

As far as the flanges, get in contact with me.

Nice move Scott. I suspected this was something like you describe. This is exactly what I would have guessed if I received a transaxle with this treatment. Any bolt that is not obviously holding sections together or covers on shouldn't be messed with unless you KNOW it's a fill or drain.
