AK Sportscars Update

Hi All,

Just a quick update, we have now completed two chassis ready for customer orders, wishbones are all well underway and panel kits are available. The new Demo car is soon to start, we have been ordering and gathering parts. Please enjoy the attached pictures of the new engine, just awaiting bell housing to couple up the ZF box.

So one other thought popped in my head, with 500hp and 2200lbs modern direct inject Coyote V8, could we really see 30mpg on the highway? For the IVA will you have to use catalytic converters?

David, in my old car which was fuel injected, on the trip back from Le Mans one year I was stuck in a queue doing around 55 mph and got just over 33 mpg.

Same engine on track days was 6 mpg.

Jon/Neil,

When are you booking new chassis deliveries for etc currently?
I have purchased a Porsche G50/52 gearbox now - I know SGT fitted the G50 to their chassis with some minor modifications - is this something you can offer?

Hi Chris,
We are are now building chassis' and the next free slot for delivery is 25 Mar 22. At the moment we are building chassis' to fit a 302 SBF or Coyote engines and ZFQ or Renault UN1 transaxles. Currently we're trying to focus on walking before we run and though fitting a Porsche G50 transaxle looks promising for the future it's not something we've done. I cannot put my hand on my heart, sell you a chassis and look you in the eye and promise a G50 will fit. Because frankly it might not! I will investigate this for you though. Don't hesitate to phone me if you want a chat. 01733 267633. Best wishes,
Neil

Hi Neil,

ok less of a wait than expected!
i won’t need mine that quickly haha.
Would you be able to speak to Mick to see what modifications were needed for the chassis to fit the G50?
I know there is atleast one out there with them in done by him.
The rear support/mount is different but other than that I’m not sure what was needed to be done!
Obviously once I have physical hold of the gearbox I can bring it to yourselves for mock up/design if needed.

I should be back in the country end of the month/early next month so will pop back up again and can sit down and go through an order etc.

Hi Neil as Mike has metioned, my Southern GT NO6 was the first to be fitted with a Porsche G50 box. I can always supply pictures if required but you may have to be patient with any technical enquires. :)

Hi Nick,

The fitting of the G50 box should be quite straight forward, we have engine mounts for the Ford 302 and have a dummy block here. As long as we can bolt the gearbox to the engine this will give us the position of the gearbox, it's then just a matter of making/fabricating up some brackets to mount the gearbox.

Jon
