SLC Aero: Bad Mama Jama

Project Bad Mama Jama
SLC Aero

I picked up my roller SLC Aero at the end of August in 2018, but I was struck by a category 5 Hurricane immediately thereafter that significantly damaged my home and severely crippled my business. Needless to say that my project was completely derailed for a prolonged period of time. I am just now starting to get back on track.

The idea behind this car is to have a relatively budget friendly but highly performing and reliable track car. I will be attempting to stick to the original concept with at least a few liberties where costs can still be kept in check.

The car has been torn down.
The Katech LS3 motor was received (standard motor offered through Superlite).
McCall's has installed the HCF sourced 1.04 drop gears into the Graziano L140 transaxle.
Wiring and plumbing have started, including a Holley Dominator for engine management (I'm not a strong advocate of Holley, but that is another story. Maybe I will change my mind when the car is completed.)
A paddle shift system with associated new metallic clutch with ceramic facing have been sourced through HCF and a European partner.

Starting to work out the cockpit layout. Holley 12" dash, shift lights to the left, brake bias dial to the right, ignition/power switch to the right and DCE Motorsports rear view video above. I replaced the original SLC seat frame with a Tillet B6 Carbon GRP seat and Tillet TB FIA seat mount brackets that I still plan to use with a pour seat in the future. I have bilateral Safecraft Restraint Systems Quick Release Kevlar Head nets that will be installed. I need to decide if I am going to have additional side supports fabricated and how exactly that will impact my ability to extricate myself from the car in lieu of head restaints built into the seat itself.

Love the Holley dash in your build. I considering going Holley (only the 6.86 version) for my SL-C but it just did not fit very well without major mods to the dash. The 12" fits perfectly in your Aero.

When I picked up my SL-C at RCR they were doing final testing on an Aero before delivery. First time I had seen one first hand. That is one bad ride!!

Following here. This car has a lot of my interest lately.

Any idea what the Graziano weighs? Thinking about a totally different gearbox and want to compare.

Threw out the fans that come with the car...New spal fans and fabricated shrouds.

Would like to follow along on your build journey, but I don't do Facebook.
My loss.

Regards Brian
I will try to post as much as I can, but It is hard to keep up with everyone from all of the various "social sites". I do not ascribe myself to any one particular site, manufacturer or products...I just try to keep my friends and those interested abreast of what is happening...and hopefully that is on track driving soon. Thank you for commenting.

Very nice! I’m hoping there’s a clutch interface/interlock buried in all that paddle-shift apparatus!
