Here is another 15” Spal brushless fan. This one is from a C7 Corvette (#84486698). It’s rated at 600 watts. They can be purchased new from Rock Auto for about $201. Pictured in this post.

I also just purchased a small Spal brushless fan from a wrecked 2020 C8 Corvette. These were rear mounted in the car and appear to be about 10”. I only paid about $60 for it. It would be a great candidate for supercharger rad cooling.

The big daddy of Spal brushless fans is this unit installed in 2016/up Camaro’s and some Cadillac’s (CTS-V and ATS). It is 850 watts and measures around 18” in diameter (#84790788) $263. Much too big for our use.

Like others before me, I had to address the poor clamping force at one position on each of the rear lower a-arm ball joints. I used a tool available from McMaster Carr. It’s only available with a 1/4” shank so I simply increased it’s diameter with a short length of heat shrink tubing. You simply install the shaft on a drill from the bottom then push it up through the hole then attach the cutting head from the top. Pull down on the drill slowly while spinning and it cuts a countersink. All this can done by simply removing the rear wheel.

I then used a pretty ARP bolt and jet nut with a couple of washers to space it out. The trick was to find the perfect sized washers to fit the counterbore.

Here are the part numbers:
Reverse counterbore head-3323A29
Shank-3309A35
Stainless ARP bolts- 96242A686
Stainless jet nuts-98892A600
Stainless washers/spacers-91437A282

The stainless fasteners are overkill but you must use these washers as they are the perfect size for the counterbore hole

There are a few wrecked C8s being parted on EBay. This one was broken at one end so it was slightly cheaper. There is another one currently for $112.50. I think it was 329watts.

Thanks go out to Kurtiss H for documenting the front suspension mod on the GT-R. Also to H Craft for pioneering it on his car. I was able to collect all the needed parts and modify the longer steering tie rods to the correct 1/2” by 20 thread. Next I hope to pick up the fuel tank in advance of buying the car so I can modify it over the winter. I’ll be using a CTS-V fuel module. This type of module incorporates two fuel pumps on the hanger. A OEM charcoal canister and purge solenoids will be used as well.

Looking to buy a used/new GT-R fuel tank. Ideally from someone building a electric motor version and has no need of the fuel tank.

Here is a new item that might interest future builders when designing their electrical system. To help save space you can get these battery post mount fuse holders. They are high current fuses that attach directly to the battery positive terminal. The picture shows the forged brass version with M10 ZCase fuses available in 80 to 600amp. This fuse holder is also available in a non forged version that uses M8 ZCase fuses in 40amp and up.

Those are great Ken, I wish I would have found something similar instead of using audio fused distribution block so the car & starter power cables were individually fused.

I came across this a year or so ago, thought it could be useful for low current items when adding something to the nose (assuming battery is up there).

Good deal on a set of C7 front SKF X-Tracker hubs on Corvette forum currently. ($150 shipped for the pair)

Here are some pictures showing the use of Nord-Lock washers for securing the rear axle nuts. This size is only applicable if you are using the DSS 33 spline stub shafts on C6 or C7 wheel bearings. One blister pack contains two sets of washers (enough for both sides).

The first picture shows the blister pack and one of the Nord-Locks set on the axle end.

The second picture shows that the Nord-Lock washers are a perfect match to the width of the flanged nut.

The part number from McMaster Carr is #91074A353. They cost about $14 for the set. (One set does both sides)

I bought a set of lug guide tools from EBay. I originally wanted to purchase them from Reverse Logic but he is always “sold out”. I know he sold off his race ramps line. Here is a picture of them in the package and installed. They are a good quality product and made in the USA.
