Strange that a £100 reconditioned MGB rack is used as an argument to keep the cost down in a £300 000 pluss car.

They are new racks, not recon. All of the SPF cars that are vintage racing in the US have the MG rack. The Cam Gears rack is a couple of thousand pounds I am told. Again, you can bolt on in as the original mounting points are on the chassis; there are backets that adapt the MG rack to the tub. If you need the magnesium rack, go for it. Hi Tech (the manufacturer in SA) also replaced the magnesium uprights with aluminum in the original FAV design; magnesium has a short half-life on the street with exposure to several things that degrade magnesium.

These are the replacement tires for the discontinued Avons. This is one rear tire for my extra wide body 1969 MK1. VIN# P1176

You are aware that these are racing “rain” tires and as such are generally not legal for road use. Also, rain tires are usually pretty soft compounds and won’t last long on the highway.
They *will* pick up every grain of sand you drive over when they are hot.

My Avons are not road legal either, and I was told they would be horrible for the road as well and they are awesome. There are just not that many options for the size wheels that come with that package.

I have 3,000 miles on my avons, and they should be good for another 3,000 miles.

Yes sir. The car will have PPF on the entire car and will hook well and are speed rated so should work well for me. Thanks, David

Are your Avons “rain” tires?

they are all slicks, that have hand grooved just like the goodyears
Right.
The reason I asked is because Rain tires are made of a far softer compound rubber because the ”slick” compound does not heat up well in the wet. The tires that David has shown appear to be rain tires made for a lightweight Formula car. I do hope they work well for him.

Randy, I believe they are slicks with tread design cut in them. The rain tires don't match the Avon tread design. They said they cut the special tread design in these.
