    OK, Convince me!

People use it to cheaply prototype parts that will eventually make there way to CNC machines. Ian

Math expert need to solve simple problem

Because the inverse functions are logarithmic functions. Y=X^X becomes ln(Y) = X*ln(X) for X > 0 which, solving for X yields X = [ ln(Y) ]/[ ln(X) ] for X > 0 and there is no way to isolate the X without getting back to the original equation, or using Euhler's number, but that...

    where are the Arabs happy?

Better check your eyes - US per capita is 19.18 tons, Australia's is 20.82 tons. And, for those who want to see some real hard core data, I highly recommend a visit to the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla, CA. As far as Lake Louise and the receding glaciers - all one needs to do is search the...

    Current State of GT40 Market

I just checked KBB.com - a 2010 CTS-V 6 spd is still about $4K more than a 2009 in excellent condition. Just an FYI. Ian

How fast a GT can go?

Again, based upon Ford moving the the single large vent with the MkIIB, the MkIV, and John Wyer continuing to use the single large vent with the Mirage and MIB, it seems that there is some significant benefit beyond better cooling. Also, the more pronounced front lip, and on the MkIV, there were...

How fast a GT can go?

One thing about Iain's car - it has the split nostril. Again, the Wyer/Gulf cars went with the single deep nostril (as did the MkIIBs and MkIVs) which redirected the air coming out of the nose over the roof as opposed to either side. This should (theoretically) increase the downforce some. It...

How fast a GT can go?

FYI - Bob Bondurant drove a MkI, similar to the above pictures (if not one of them exactly) in the 1965 Le Mans. Using the Ford 5.3l motor in qualifying, he claims to have hit 212 mph down the Mulsanne. I suspect the Wyer/Gulf cars of 68/69 could go faster due to better aerodynamics. Ian

    GT40/p 2***

Actually, from what I see in the pictures you posted, would be more tubes, not less than the Tornado CF mono. The Tornado monos have tubes for the radiator extension in the front, the engine cradle in the back, and the "roll" bar/firewall structure. The one you posted pictures of has more tubes...

    Cost of engines

Again, the reason why there are so many places to get parts (including "Chinese junk") as well as so many shops that build 'em, it all has been traced back to Ford and Chrysler putting a ban on racing (Ford was out from 1971 - 1981, Chrysler only maintained 2 teams from 1971 - 1977, privateers...

    Cost of engines

Has to do with the price and availability of "go fast" parts I suppose. Remember that Ford had all but officially abandoned racing and thus the aftermarket performance industry from 1971 - 1981. That put a big halt to the development of aftermarket support and parts. A Mopar 5.7l crate Hemi...

    Any Computer Boffins on here?

Yeah, many of the big ISPs maintain their own blacklists - AOL, Google, Yahoo, etc. Also, Barracuda and other firewall companies might maintain their own reputation lists as well. Ian

    A Riviera scratchbuilt GT40

I think the best solution for rear hoop placement is integrated into the rear bulkhead like Southern GT. Of course, for competition, the sanctioning body's regulations have to be met. But, putting the rear hoop in the engine bay adds to the already tight packaging there, and placing it inside...

    CAD drawing. Help me please!

The problem is that companies like Superformance, CAV, Tornado, Southern GT, Roaring Forties, RCR, ERA, etc. etc. etc. have spent a lot of time and effort engineering their chassis. Yes, they may have some similarities since they are all are based upon the same thing, but there are individual...

    CAD drawing. Help me please!

It's not a technology issue. It's an issue of proprietary information, unwillingness or inability to share such information, and I am sure, some liability thrown in as well. Now, I may have a welder at the ready to fab a chassis for me, but I need to come up with some plans/drawings -...

    Census Forms

One of my summer jobs whilst I was home from college was door-to-door census taker (basically, we followed up on some forms that either raised some sort of flag or were never returned). I worked with a group of 10 people. By the time we were done, seven had quit (and I picked up their share of...
