    2019 Formula 1

I’ve been watching F1 for 30 years and still find the series very entertaining. IMO F1 has been more about the ebb and flow of the top teams and how the cars are improved to be more competitive over time and not one race to the next. Some races are fabulous while other can be boring but all in...

    Stephan's SLC Build Log

Stephan, I’ll admit I don’t understand engines to this degree but can’t wait to see it!

What type of metal for rear engine mounts?

Thanks Howard, if I was to use aluminum could I just use extruded 1/4” angle, it says it is 6061-T1? I assume I should also weld in the support for added strength just like the original ones?

    Ken's SLC build thread

Nice work Ken, I think you did the right thing, having those aluminum parts stressed like that is probably not ideal.

Hello, Kevin with SL-C Desires, Help!!

Hi Kevin, Welcome to the forum, With regard to number #1, totally agree, the SLC is a unique component car and after I saw it on the net, then saw Stephan’s Build in person I knew it was the kit I wanted to build. I went to RCR which was recommended by Stephan to see if I fit in the car and...

    Supercharger intake plenum extension question?

Ok, now I get it, yes skinning it in CF would look cool. I was thinking of sanding the welds down smooth so it looks like one piece of aluminum although that might not be possible. Well, thanks for the feedback. When do you plan on making your intake?

    Supercharger intake plenum extension question?

Wow, very cool and thanks for rendering these images. It is very close to what I have in mind.. Planning on taking two 120 degree 2.25” OD tubes with a 2.25” radius with 6” legs to form the piece you have in the first rendering. The reason I plan on two 120 degree pieces instead of a 180 is...

    Supercharger intake plenum extension question?

Now, I see what you mean by being able to visualize the part. I may try to find some free CAD SW and see if I can design something less restrictive.

Soon there will be one more SLC in Houston.

Hi Granville, I’m going with the manual with Fran’s new shifter. I think The sequential is a great idea but right now sticking with manual.

    Supercharger intake plenum extension question?

Roger, I don’t understand what you mean by “skinning the welded aluminum structure.” The design is based on using a 180 degree 2.25” mandrel bent tube and a straight 4” tube, so really just cutting and welding will be required. Maybe a little shaping to match the 4” tube to the throttle body...

What type of metal for rear engine mounts?

Thanks Ken, I learn something new everyday. Mine do adhere to a magnet also so must be plated.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the SL-C. Your car looks amazing. And thanks for helping me decide on going with the LT4!

    Supercharger intake plenum extension question?

I have spent some more time thinking about an LT4 throttle body intake elbow. I really would prefer not to modify the chassis cross brace and came up with this prototype design which does clear the frame. It is made out of a pool float noodle, duct tape, and an HVAC tube. Although using Auto-CAD...

What type of metal for rear engine mounts?

Hi, I’m looking to fab up a new set of rear engine mounts for my SL-C. They look like they are made with stainless steel. Just wanted to confirm if that is the case or are they nickel plated steel. Thanks for your help.

    Ken's SLC build thread

Ken, Just curious, does the brace that sits on top of the trans fit fine? I agree you would not want to stress that area too much. Better to make that brace line up properly.
