Hard To Reach Nuts & Washers

I didn't discover this trick- it's been around a long time but I'll pass along my experiences using it. Getting to the backside of a bolt to install a washer or get a nut started on its threads is sometimes really difficult (see photo). I was re-installing my front anti-roll bar and each...

    Clutch Types

I stumbled across a very good video on YouTube that explains the different types of clutch discs very well. You may find it helpful in selecting what type of clutch to put into your car.

    Electronic turn signals

Some time ago I was wiring a car and I wondered why I did not find an electronic solution to turn signals and flashers. Some digital logic, an astable timer, two relays, and a handful of small components can do the job. Any good technician can lay out this circuit on a small printed circuit...

    Manta Mirage

I created a YouTube video of my earlier MANTA 2 restoration. This is not the same car as my black one- this red one is street legal. Neil

    Media Files

The site "Media" text box says that the file size limit for posting media is 20MB but when I try to post a 13MB .mp3 file I get "File size to large to process." Is this an error or am I doing something wrong?

    John Horsman

John Horsman has died. This is sad to report as he was my friend and a man who I greatly respected. A number of years ago John was the victim of a mistaken overdose of dye tracer (for a CT scan) and this damaged his kidneys to the point that it was necessary that he had a kidney transplant. This...

The latest issue of Hot Rod Magazine (Feb 2020) has an excellent article on fasteners. This should be good information for anyone building a car.

    Christmas Card

Back in the "Olden Days" when I was in College at William & Mary, I had a good friend who was a car guy and an artist, "Weed" we called him (a name from a sci-fi novel that he liked), his real name was "William S. Gregory" so he was called "Pope" on occasion. He drew a Christmas card for all of...

    Old GT40 Photos

This is a cute photo that may have been part of a series that Marchal did to promote their lights. Note the chrome trim around the headlight covers and the grills on the radiator air outlets.

    Homebuilt Mid-Engine Sports Racer

I have been building this car over a period of many years. With the exception of its fiberglass body, all the fabrication was done by me- including the chassis, suspension, and engine. I chose the McLaren replica body that was made by Manta Cars in Santa Ana, California for their Mirage kit car...

    Build Detail Questions

I enjoy seeing the progress of everyone's different builds here on the forum. There are a few questions that I have about the aluminum chassis panels that I see frequently in many photos. These questions are not only directed at GT40s but for all types of car builds. 1. What thickness and alloy...
