If you find the alternator isnt what is causing the issue.
Have you changed to a lower octane fuel or swapped to a hotter plug? Both can cause it to diesel a bit.
Thanks for the reply Howard, and the laugh. Guess I need to try and find something I like the looks of that will actually take the bark out of the exhaust.

I'm curious about these Spiral Turbo Exhaust inserts when it comes to mounting them right after the headers. The only reviews I can find are for Corvettes and Cobras with side pipes, or for full size front engine cars and trucks. I like the idea of having what looks like a straight pipe vs a...
This is the same one I went with as well. They make a kit that includes the remote filter mount and the hoses/ fittings. Very well made components for sure.

Thanks.
I still need to mount the nose to make sure that upper radiator line clears both nostrils the way I have it, but it should be pretty close to working for them.

I have been working on plumbing the last couple weeks. I found a setup I like for the thermostat housing. I was also able to run the lines for the heater core through the spinal column.
I am in the same boat with the brand new starter I have. Hopefully I can sell it for a decent price.
I tested everything yesterday. The new starter works great. I turned it over long enough to build oil pressure.
My goal is to start the engine in the car this summer.

I finally got a starter that works.
I ordered Hi Torque's 170-001 after talking a bit with Chris from Hi Torque we determined it will fit on my transmission. Unfortunately when I received it, I found it could only be indexed to 4 positions. Those positions didn't help me much. The good news is...
Rod,
Thanks for the idea of using hard lines for the AC. I hadnt thought of the space savings by using them. I have ordered some AC tubes and will give it a shot.
Thanks,
Sean
After hours of searching. I might have come up with some options. It seems IMI (HiTorque) has a couple to choose from, I am awaiting confirmation as to fit and availability.
I am also waiting to hear back from RCR and Kennedy.
The IMI-170-002 looks to be correct with the long nose. But I...
Hi Adam,
I read your build thread on this as well.
I'm curious if your starter (IMI-101NL) actually looks like the picture all the websites have for it.
Mine has a very long pinion that fits into a bushing on the bell housing. Im thinking that starter might not work for me, but I am unsure...
Thanks Randy,
I did read about how you did this, very good design in my opinion. I think I could do it with a stock starter. Just curious what other options there are.
Thanks for the info on RCR, I have also reached out to them.
Regards,
Sean
I haven’t installed the starter until this weekend. I had to pull the engine and trans to fit a couple things and install the clutch. While it was out I put in the starter and was happy it turned the engine over quickly in the correct direction.
I then found out while going back in that the...
I’m curious what others have done with the wiring on a RCR. Specifically running the wiring harness to the rear of the car from the fuse block in the front.
I’m thinking about running 5/8” tubes through the spinal column to connect to the heater at the proper points on the engine to make...
