    RCR-P AND P4

Hey Fran, Just had a crazy idea. The RCR-P would make a great electric sports car. Of course current technology would limit such a car to autocross and street use, but boy would it be fun. You might even be able to claim the worlds fastest 0-60mph street car.

    CX of GT40

For grins check out http://www.answers.com/topic/drag-coefficient-1 It lists drag coefficients for several cars (but not the GT40). The Testarossa is 0.36 - close to the GT40. The Honda Insight is 0.25 and a 997 is 0.28, but the F50 is only 0.372. Of course cars like the F50 and 997 probably...

    Determining Optimum Tire Size

Good point Chris - side wall height would factor into it. Personally my plan is to run 17" wheels for best performance since there is more available and this should reduce unsprung weight as well. I'd like to have a set of 15" wheels as well - but this would be more for show and performance...

    Porsche GT3 vs GT40

Interesting list. Looks like the Areil Atom is the best bang for the buck. Not sure what these go for, but must be about $50k. Third fastest at only .5 sec behind the Enzo and .6 sec behind the MC12 (both very afordable cars - for Bill Gates that is). Several other interesting comparisons on...

    Determining Optimum Tire Size

Wider tires obviously provide more contact patch, but yield less energy per unit area - so they will run cooler - which could reduce available traction. They also weigh more. So the question is - how does one determine the optimum tire size for a given weight of car (like the GT40? Obviously HP...

    Wheel and Tire options

I noticed in a post from Robert that RF had tried to use wheels from Vintage Wheel, but they would not work on the RF (not sure why). This got me thinking... 1. Where can one get knock on wheels for the RF besides ordering them from the factory? Is it a simple matter of specifying the right...

    RF Review and test drive

Just got back from two days of examining and driving Hershal's RF and thought I'd share my observations for those still considering which car to buy. Appearance and Construction Visually the RF looks correct. From the outside or sitting in the cockpit, nothing screams "replica" or "kit car"...

    Hershal Byrd

I just wanted to publicly thank Hersh for his "extreme" hospitality! Sunday morning I flew into Phoenix to see Hersh's car. Simply telling me how to get to his house and spending a few hours with me would have been ample. But that doesn't cut it with Hershal. Hershal picked me up, spent the...

    GT40 replicas

Charlie, Good point. I travel to the UK quite often and am often reminded of how outrageous property values can get - esp in London and Cambridge (where my company is located). That said, the California Bay area is quite outrageous compared to most of the US. For about 1/2 the price of my...

Best GT40 slot cars (1:32 scale)

Very nice. The Audi R8C is also nice from Slot-it. BTW - I ordered the Yellow MK IV in complete kit form (at least I hope it was a complete kit). This way I can hook up the lights without taking it apart. Wana Race? Mark

    Airplane partnership

Thought I might share this for you fellow pilots.... Given that I'm about to start building a GT40, my eldest is starting college soon, and the wife thinks I have too many hobbies anyway...I decided to try and bring on a partner or two for my airplane. So, just in case there is a fellow pilot...

    Registering RHD vehicles in Cali

[ QUOTE ] I have a friend who had a GTD with RHD. It's registered here in CA. He hated it and finally sold it. [/ QUOTE ] Bill, what did he hate? Was it the build, the 40 or the RHD? Mark

Best GT40 slot cars (1:32 scale)

Wow! Thanks John. I 2nd Al, never seen LM or Maxi in the states. Just ordered a Mk IV. May have to get the J car too... For GT40's I have only seen Scalextric and Fly. Slot-it makes some of the best running and looking cars for the money, but how many Porsche 956's do I need? Racer also makes...

    Registering RHD vehicles in Cali

Bill, I know all about the difficulties of RHD from the RH side of the road. I go over to the UK periodically and invariably at some point wind up on the right (make that WRONG) side of the road. It usually happens when making a RH turn out of a parking area, filling station, etc. There is...

Best GT40 slot cars (1:32 scale)

Ok, I know there are a lot of you slot car nuts out there, and I'm obviously one (er, well, it is really my kids track. I know, my wife doesn't buy that either)... So, the question is, who makes the best looking and best running 1:32 scale GT40 slot cars? I have a Fly model (in the avatar)...
