Ref: GTD40 Spyder- if this car is still for sale, I would like some information on it. I am tall and find the standard GT40 very claustrophobic and prefer a Spyder design.

Re: CAV silver G Sypder for saleT
I really like your "concept"---for the targa roof.
If you speak with any of the builders (RCR--SPF--CAV), let me know if any of them are interested in building one.
Your design would appeal to a large group of guys like me----tall and claustrophobic...
No, not me? I'm leaning more towards the ERA cars. I had an ERA 427 Cobra and their quality is top notch.
I'm fairly tall----6 ft 2in----240#, so I need to sit in one and see how I fit.
First time being tall has been a PIA.

I'm probably not interested. I'm leaning towards an ERA at this moment in time.
A dealer has it: Google Lakeside LLC, Spring Lake, MI Ph. 616-842-1020
Asking price is $79,995.

I've come across an ad for a low mileage Gt40 replica, LHD, built by GT Development in the UK (Poole).
I put the name in the "search" function, but nothing comes up.
Does anyone know anything about this company or the quality of their products?
Thanks- DandyDon
Johann-Thank you very much for your candidness. It sounds like Bailey is more tuned to the race course than street. Out of curiosity, what brand did you pick for your street car? Are you satisfied with the end product?
Regards- DandyDon
I hope to be a future GT40 owner and read up on all the offerings in the marketplace.
I came across Bailey Cars GT40---and the cars look okay from what I can see on the internet.
The brand rarely seems to come up in discussion; what's the scoop? Good quality"
Thanks,

Re: CAV silver G Sypder for saleT
I too have watched this car------------it has seemingly been for sale forever.
CAV only built 5 units, and I believe these were early in their production process. One fellow I spoke with thought there were some upright issues and subsequent handling problems...
I'm a "newbie" looking at several replicas for street duty. One I've come across is a CAV replica with a Getrag 5 speed.
I would prefer the ZF but do not wish to discount the Getrag if it is a good transmission as well.
When I did a search it sounded like there are quite a few variations of...
Thanks Mike----I saw the car on both Ebay and in Hemmings Motor News.
Nice car---LHD------asking $350K.
A little to rich for my blood. Since I'm a "street guy", I would probably go to a 2005/2006 Ford GT for less $$$ and more room.

I have posted in the past questioning the history/desirability of a Gt40 Spyder.
As a tall and admittedly claustrophic guy, I think it would be great for a street car;perhaps not so much so for a race car.
ERA has a very nice "prototype" car; but Peter will not even provide pricing info on...
There has been some discussion in the past regarding several replica manufacturers building a Spyder (Roadster) version GT40.
I know the history of the few early CAV cars and I know Fran Hall (RCR) has built a few in the past.
Is there anything new to report? I think if existing molds could...
Thanks to Rick Muck and Bob Wood for some great information.
I thought my idea was "avant garde" and it sounds like others have gone down this path with great success.

I have been a long time fan of the SPF GT-40 and actually was one of the first to put down a deposit on the cars when they were first introduced.
Long story short---I simply did not comfortably fit in the car, even with a Gurney bubble.
I'm about 6 ft 2in and 240 lbs and found the laid back...
